Purple Slave asked:
The Park is not open 24/7, so what about other recreational costs?

There are no other recreational costs...after partying till 5am all you want to do is go back to your hotel and sleep for a few hours, and then go back to the Park..last year proved that you'll never know what will happen during the day at Paisley...Prince was all over the place during the day.

I think $250 is a deal, considering that we paid $200 for tickets to the Xcel center in addition to the $70 for the celebration...

i just hope they have more food on the grounds of the Park...I can respect Prince being a Vegan, but I needed something more than a Portabello Mushroom sandwich to fill my stomach.

I saw Prince walking around during the day, had the pleasure of asking him questions face to face at one of the discussions, I DID stay for most of the day EVERYDAY but theres still A LOT of downtime, and lots of people where wondering what to do during the day in Minneaopolis.... (like the casinos about 30 minutes away from Paisley) THose are recreational costs my friend....Some people arent going to wait around waiting for something exciting to happen...

take what I said for what you will, fact is Bob, nice to meet you =), Im speaking in costs RELATIVE to what HE has to spend for US to be there... Its not that I wouldnt dish out the money, I would, I just dont believe members(his bread and butter) all around should be charged 250. 150 is reasonable. but spending "vacation" (which I did for the last 2 years at previous celebrations) with Prince and the fams(which i will miss more) is less important to me now, beacuse I watched his trend of having concerts and "Celebrations" to make money then for the rest of the year, its not his problem.

Anyway, the point is, We all love Prince, and supposedly he loves us back right? thats why he "invites" us over?

Hes calling us "family" for Pete's sake!! My complaint is NOT about having an expensive vacation(which some people assume was my complaint cause i said "i aint gonna run myself broke") My complaint is you dont charge the ones who love you the most ("family") to see you at HOME.

NEW POWER NORTH SAID:

"dont try and encourage others to stay back. thats pretty selfish too."

I posed a question, not an encouragement. what gain would I have from people not going?
Apparently, you're going, so I "encourage" you to have fun =) Oh and have some for me too! =D

NEW POWER NORTH SAID:

"WTF u expect? it's a vacation? "

Much Love 2 U, and God Bless

PSlave,

Again, it's only $35 a night. That's far cheaper than a good hotel room.

Just wish I could go . . . wife already made summer vacation plans, and none of them involve Minnesota . . . maybe I could just go missing for a week wink

So is it $250 or nothing? I mean, what about NPGMC members who can't go the whole week? Any word about a daily price?

okay, seriously guys...i don't want to be mean or anything, but prince is making me say "what the hell?!?!" over and over lately, and thus i have come to a conclusion: prince is trying to start a cult. how can he not be? he's all "hey, it's so cheap (right?) to come here and hang out and you'll have a great time and see lots of artists" which reads to me and other prince music fans i know like this: "if you are willing to pay this much, then i know you are willing to listen and let me preach to you and compromise your viewpoints and alter them to become more like mine...hee hee hee" don't get me wrong, prince is a great musician, but he is breaking down the groups of people who will participate and weeding out the ones who aren't "fams" to the hilt. whatever. it doesn't make me feel good or bad, it just is. i miss the prince of "it's gonna be lonely", "paisley park", "housequake", etc...i don't care what he does, but i want the funk!! not the cult.

Eye will probably post this a few places, although Eye usually frown at CROSS POSTERS...Eye would encourgae any1 attending the Celebration 2 consider sending something like this 2 the website:

High, Just wanted 2 give some more feedback on General Admission...at the 3 One Nite Alone concerts Eye attended, there was much BREAKING IN LINE,despite the attempts at certain fans TRYING...and Eye just mean TRYING 2 organize...also, at BOTH the 2000 and 2001 celebrations, many people just walked 2 the front, and found a friend, infuriating many who had been in line 4 over an hour or more. There should b some kind of official sign in 4 those who show up early 2 line in. SOme kind of NPG Club sign in, where u have 2 show ID, and Celebration pass, and THAT WILL B YOUR SPACE IN LINE..any1 wanting 2 get their WIFE or GIRLFRIEND or BUDDY in line, will have 2 arrive with THAT PERSON...and go back 2 the end of the line 2 walk in with a late arriver...

Please consider passing this info 2 the organizer of this year's celebration. Thank U.

YES!!! I agree!! The line cutting has to stop!!! People will be all buddy buddy and try to cut in. Let's send a message over to NPGMC and maybe, just maybe it will be handled.

normally you wouldn't pay 35 to see some jazz/blues act you've never heard of.

Yeah you wouldn't... but if you put down all your prince cds and listen to music outside of the purple court, you probably would.

Jazz/Blues is where Prince is going with his music. He hasn't stopped rockin, or funkin, but this is where he's goin. Some won't wanna go I guess, but don't sleep. Rachelle Ferrell commands upwards of $80 a pop. So don't discredit her cuz it's not your kind of music. Just admit your ignorance and either be quiet or learn more about her before passing judgment.

Hey, I didn't mean to put down Rachelle Ferrell or blues or jazz, I do like a wide range of music, and I may love all these guest acts if I get to hear them, I try and keep an open mind. I just meant it's a gamble to commit a lot of total money on acts that however good may not ring your bell. I think it's perfectly sensible to avoid disappointment by having an awareness of what's in store before you go to a gig. Like any festival-type gig with an inclusive ticket, you may like most of the bands but not necessary all, what tips the balance is having more of what you know you like being there and the rest hopefully will be a bonus. I just mean that my liking Prince everynight is a cert but my liking these other acts is a bit of a risk, and not that they're rubbish or anything.

The thing is that Prince is so musically diverse that no matter which artists perform at The Park, some fans our bound to be unhappy. But from very early on, I think Prince made it clear that this year's Celebration was going to be jazz tinged. He even asked members of the club "which jazz tinged artist we would like to see at this year's Celebration?", so I would say to anyone that is planning to go to this years celebration that if jazz is not your cup of tea, then go to the celebration to see Prince but understand that clearly the genre of music played throughout is going to tilt heavily on jazz.

But I can already hear the whining that's going to take place. "... it was CRAP....They just played a bunch of jazz!".

Exactly Abucah...

and Metalorange, I hear what you're saying. I would suggest that folks take the time out now to visit some of these artists' websites, go to CDNOW and sample tracks from their CDs, or even check their CDs out at the record store... Decide if you like the vibe and make your decisions based on that.

It's Prince's commentary on what is gripping the country... at least that's how the instrumental performance with the video footage of airport security/profiling comes across... opening with Prince saying "prepare to be searched."

Okay Ya'll, I think I am gonna do this this year...however I don't have a place to stay yet, and I am gonna need a ride from the Airport to Chanhassen and back. I have a friend who said I could stay with them, so I am sure I am gonna be okay as far as a place to stay, but I am not sure what I am gonna do about a ride yet.

Anyone else who is planning on going and all that drop me a line and let me know if you can help me out.

Peace

Connie

Hi, it's me again!! Remember how stressed I was on Tuesday when the tickets went on sale!! It took until today for my credit card to post my payment so that I could charge the $250....but, thank God for smiling on me today and enabling me to finally buy my ticket!!!! smile I''m sooooo relieved!!smile Now begins the major networking with other fams around the country to find roomates and carpoolers, etc. - that's all part of the fun of course...making new friends!! I can't wait!! By the way, if any girls are interested, I have a room with 2 queen size beds which I would like to share. The room is $60 per night - let me know if you want to split costs for the room and also rent a car to share. Peace.....Kat:)

I say half the people will come. But then again maybe all.
Because when you think about it the prices were $70.00 for the all week pass, $90.00 for the concert each night, most people went to both = $250.00 hmmmm. Looks like Prince it cutting out the overhead of the Xcel Ctr. and just playing to a smaller crowd.

Same for me, I live in MN and I still couldn't make it out there every night.....saving my vac time for something else so staying up until 5 am every night doesn't help work out every morning.....Not sure if I will go as of yet, really want to see him but 500 dollars is alot of cash if you can't hit up the park every night!!!
We will see. Is it members only?

I think it's Xenophobia (zen'e-fob'e-a) because Prince is working at bringing individuals 2gether. He doesn't want people 2 B fearful or contemptuous of others. We need 2 come 2gether. We have not been given a spirit of fear, but of peace, love and a sound mind.
I've been fortunate 2 have some wonderful Michigan Prince fans as friends who clued me in 2 a lot, including urging me 2 attend the Celebration 4 the whole week, which I'm fortunately able 2 take off from my job. I have my ticket & am looking 4ward 2 June 20th when I head to MN. It's my 1st Celebration & I know it's going 2 B incredibly memorable!
