$250...hmmm, sounds kinda expensive to me, but the jury's still out.

thanks

$250 each!!! I don't mind paying that for 7 nites of Prince, but I sure wish they would give us some warning as to when they are going to sell these tickets! I have to send money to my credit card and it takes 24 to 48 hours to post to my account! Please God, do not let them sell out before Thursday!! sad (I'm sooo stressed!!) Help!! smile

i don't think it'll sell out b4 Thursday, as a members only sale. it didn't last year, and it was open to the public. but u never know...

now I gotta decide if I'm gonna go. I think $250 is EXTREMELY reasonable 4 7 performances -- not like the 1st year, where we wondered every night if he'd play, and never did.

hmm.....
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

Rachelle Ferrell is an established jazz/blues singer--vocalist with a command of like 6 octaves and a pianist. She has had a vew albums out, she's from Philly, and has worked with Will Downing and George Duke. Her stuff is mostly ballads and jazz/blues tunes, heavily piano based.

Norah Jones is pretty much a newbie... Ravi Shankar's niece... she's a soulful jazz/blues pianist that is making waves. Very organic music...

I'm not hip to Wooten or Allison as yet... but I can vouch for both Ferrell and Jones... but beware this is not party music. More blues/jazz/nightclub music... But amazing nonetheless.

Eye will probably post this a few places, although Eye usually frown at CROSS POSTERS...Eye would encourgae any1 attending the Celebration 2 consider sending something like this 2 the website:

High, Just wanted 2 give some more feedback on General Admission...at the 3 One Nite Alone concerts Eye attended, there was much BREAKING IN LINE,despite the attempts at certain fans TRYING...and Eye just mean TRYING 2 organize...also, at BOTH the 2000 and 2001 celebrations, many people just walked 2 the front, and found a friend, infuriating many who had been in line 4 over an hour or more. There should b some kind of official sign in 4 those who show up early 2 line in. SOme kind of NPG Club sign in, where u have 2 show ID, and Celebration pass, and THAT WILL B YOUR SPACE IN LINE..any1 wanting 2 get their WIFE or GIRLFRIEND or BUDDY in line, will have 2 arrive with THAT PERSON...and go back 2 the end of the line 2 walk in with a late arriver...

Please consider passing this info 2 the organizer of this year's celebration. Thank U.

How much were you thinking of paying? $2000? $3000?
1500 was my budget and now with this ridiculous 250 week-long pass, forget it, its not worth it.....

Last year the week pass was under a hundred and we had the same amount of artists that played ... granted he could add more, but ya'll know how he gets... he could have less...
It doesnt cost him to have artists play at Paisley like it would at a stadium, so the money we give to SEE this, he's gettin more than 60%, and paying very little out of pocket( and thats if he pays the guest artists)... some are so happy to play with him he gets away with not paying...Rosie knows the deal.

Prince.orgers:

How is it a DEAL for members only to pay 250 for a week pass when last year general public got in for the same or 10 dollars more?what about Members who just paid 100 dollars for membership just to go to the Celebration cause they thought they'd get a good deal? Now they gotta pay for a plane ticket, the hotel room , transportation, and food? The Park is not open 24/7, so what about other recreational costs? What about you all who plan to fly in from Europe?

I LOVE YOU PRINCE, but i aint gonna run myself broke

I wish all of you the best who are going... the aura and the people are great at Paisley... I'll Miss all of you who i met from Europe last year... its just so sad that Prince of all people is seeing greener...."Money dont matter?" Well, It Didnt till he found out how much we were willing to pay...

i don't see how $250 for 7 Prince concerts is ridiculous. I saw 4 of the shows on the recent tour and spent $500. Obviously if you can't afford it, you shouldn't go. but don't blame Prince for that.

I have to admit, I lucked out on this trip. If I had to pay for the celebration tix and air fare and lodging, I probably wouldn't be able to go either.
My friend who I'm going with has friends in Minneapolis who we will be staying with and my mom is paying for my airline ticket as a birthday present. smile Thanks, Mom!!!!!
So I'm just out 250 for the Celebration and spending money. Hey, don't hate me. I wanted to go to the last two Celebrations, but no way could I pull all the funds together. Not to mention getting the vacation time from work.
The planets lined up right for me this year, so I'll be a celebration virgin no more. lol

I'm sure the price for the tickets will put a lot of people off, wonder if they'll manage to get enough people to go?

250 dollars for 7 nights, that's 35 dollars a night, assuming you have the energy to keep it going for 7 nights in a row! Not hugely expensive in the great scheme of things I suppose, however I expect because of all these guests Prince will just play a back-role some nights, more like "Rachelle Ferrell with special appearances by Prince!" and normally you wouldn't pay 35 to see some jazz/blues act you've never heard of.

Tempted to go though, might as well blow some money on enjoying yourself rather than sitting at home watching TV while the money sits in the bank. Plus some fans seem to assume the celebration will be every year from now on, "oh, I'll catch the one next year" but you never know if this is gonna be the last one and you'll kick yourself for missing it!

Is there anything to do in Minneapolis during the day, from a tourist-on-foot viewpoint? Sitting bored in a hotel room for 7 days waiting for the evening to come does not sound like fun...

'Daily events'? like what, watching 'Sign o the Times' on a screen somewhere for the umpteenth time? BE SPECIFIC! and I might come!

oh come'on now dnaplaya...I ain't rich and I'm going! no offense but...you could have been saving since last year! I have been. For those of you with a 401k plan....look into taking a loan from it. that's what I did last year, and it was very easy. There are usually no penalties for taking out a loan, the payments come right outta your check and you pay you self back the intrest! and you get the check in like 3 days. It's a great way to be able to go smile hope that helps someone.
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

Oh, I see, Prince should come to every single city and hold this every week so its convenient for everybody who cant afford a plane ticket or hotel costs...look i dont have tons of money but complaining about airfare and hotel? WTF u expect? its a vacation? you want Prince to put you up? it'd cost u more.

the last2 celebrations, Prince didnt play every night. thats the big difference. last year we paid $70 + 2 x $80 for the week and 2 shows...big difference? no.

if u wanna see prince play for 7 nights, go. if not, dont try and encourage others to stay back. thats pretty selfish too.

Yeah you wouldn't... but if you put down all your prince cds and listen to music outside of the purple court, you probably would.

Jazz/Blues is where Prince is going with his music. He hasn't stopped rockin, or funkin, but this is where he's goin. Some won't wanna go I guess, but don't sleep. Rachelle Ferrell commands upwards of $80 a pop. So don't discredit her cuz it's not your kind of music. Just admit your ignorance and either be quiet or learn more about her before passing judgment.

take what I said for what you will, fact is Bob, nice to meet you =), Im speaking in costs RELATIVE to what HE has to spend for US to be there... Its not that I wouldnt dish out the money, I would, I just dont believe members(his bread and butter) all around should be charged 250. 150 is reasonable. but spending "vacation" (which I did for the last 2 years at previous celebrations) with Prince and the fams(which i will miss more) is less important to me now, beacuse I watched his trend of having concerts and "Celebrations" to make money then for the rest of the year, its not his problem.

Anyway, the point is, We all love Prince, and supposedly he loves us back right? thats why he "invites" us over?

Hes calling us "family" for Pete's sake!! My complaint is NOT about having an expensive vacation(which some people assume was my complaint cause i said "i aint gonna run myself broke") My complaint is you dont charge the ones who love you the most ("family") to see you at HOME.

NEW POWER NORTH SAID:

"dont try and encourage others to stay back. thats pretty selfish too."

I posed a question, not an encouragement. what gain would I have from people not going?
Apparently, you're going, so I "encourage" you to have fun =) Oh and have some for me too! =D

NEW POWER NORTH SAID:

"WTF u expect? it's a vacation? "
