STRANGE RELATIONSHIP heard live on DC radio station On DC'S 96.3 WHUR an apparent live version of STRANGE RELATIONSHIP was played. It had to be live and a updated version because Prince calls out Rhonda Smith for a bass solo and just the band directions he gives lead me to believe it was live...

It's a soundboard copy of the Indianapolis show from March. It's been in minor rotation for about 5 weeks. No Candy 4 Me

some public and college readio stations in LA play cuts from Prince bootlegs in the wee hours on weekends. It seems to be some hip gesture to even have these unauthorized recordings and play them on the air.
Doesn't the FCC regulate this? I know the RIAA does. They should have someone listen to certain stations late at night and see what they can get. They suck anyway.

And where the hell are the bootlegs of the LA shows? Especially the aftershows...they had to be the best so far as Sheila E, Larry Graham and Maceo Parker all sat it and Prince just ripped on guitar!

WHUR is a mainstream station, and they aren't playing it in the wee hours... it's in the regular prime-time rotation. I actually think Prince might have given them this to play, because it's a perfect soundboard copy... not an audience recording... and there is no bootleg of this show circulating. During the song, Prince even says "I'm on your radio" (or something to that effect)... so I'd imagine Prince taped it and decided to give it to them to play. He played in DC about two weeks after the Indy show, so I'd imagine he gave it to them to promote his three shows at the Warner Theatre... which they did. I doubt they're playing this unauthorized. That wouldn't surprise me, since WHUR has been the most consistent supporter of Prince's music, more than any other station in DC. Their commitment has always been to HIM and his work, not playlists... So they would play b-sides, they would play unreleased album cuts (like Adore and It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night), they would play 12"'s (like the full "I Wish U Heaven Parts 1, 2, and 3"), they played "I Hate U," "We March" and "Shhhh," and they even played an edited (longer) version of "Wasted Kisses." Now you know when they are going after hidden tracks, they got some real dedicated fans up in there! "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

He says "NPG on the Radio" I 1st heard this on WHUR very late at nite. I called the DJ asking him where he got that live track from.....the DJ said....."Ahhhhh I aint tellin" so I asked if it was from the DC warner theather show.....he quickly said "No", then he said he downloaded it off the net from Princes site. I figured OK, so we hung up. I went to the NPG site and saw the forever lasting lone silicon I called the DJ back to inform him that he had lied needless to say he wouldnt pick up the phone. Anyway, after the inital shock, I have heard it bout 4 other times on WHUR. P luv
