"She shimmied with Prince, but now she walks with the Prince of Peace. Denise Matthews, the artist formerly known as Vanity, says she has left the wild life that started when she collaborated with the Artist Formerly Known as Prince. Now 40, Matthews is to preach tonight at the Bibleway Fellowship Christian Church in New Kensington, Pa., a Pittsburgh suburb. ``I was a wicked person,'' she says. ``There was nothing under the sun that I didn't do in sin. I was sick inside. I was a crack cocaine addict and didn't even know how to wake up in the morning without some smoke. . . . When I was Vanity, if you hung with me you wouldn't hear about God.''
