Friends gather at Lopes' Stone Mountain home

Lopes' home has drawn neighborhood attention over the years.

On her birthday two years ago, Prince drove up to the house in his tour bus to visit -- creating an odd spectacle in this suburban landscape. Neighborhood kids frequently came by to play video games. Friends gathered at her house Friday recalled how she'd let the grass grow because she didn't want to kill anything.}}}

John Reed, 34, remembered how Lopes came to visit his brother in the hospital. "She was extremely kind, very intellectual," said Reed, a neighbor who met her through his niece, Natina Reed, who is part of the local R&B group Blaque, whose members are Lopes' proteges.

"She was a regular person,"said Reed, who shopped at the same Publix as Lopes.

Around the corner from Lopes' house, the home-based studio she used to work on her music still had unwashed dishes in the sink. A box of Raisin Nut Bran cereal sat on the kitchen counter and a wipe-off calendar read: "positive energy activates constant elevation" and sported a notation about the trip to Honduras with a little drawing of a plane.

Love to the Lopes family .....RIP
