Grammy Awards President Michael Greene mentions Prince

In an article by Michael Greene, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, which operates and owns the Grammy Awards, mentions Prince in an article about media influence on culture. In the article the President says that Prince's Song "Darling Nikki" was the spark for the creation of the PMRC, that later led to warning stickers being placed on albums with explicit lyrics.

Here is the segment of the article that mentions Prince.

"...Tipper Gore caught her 11-year-old daughter listening to Prince's "Darling Nikki" from Purple Rain and immediately launched the Parent's Music Resource Center, a shameless crusade to sanitize music."
with their nihilist rants, were the latest threat to the well-being of our kids. This new crop of rabble rousers chronicled the decay of the British and American inner cities and gave a voice to a generation of kids unmotivated because of a lack of opportunity. Soon after, Tipper Gore caught her 11-year-old daughter listening to Prince's "Darling Nikki" from Purple Rain and immediately launched the Parent's Music Resource Center, a shameless crusade to sanitize music. Eventually the PMRC was successful in stickering CDs, a practice which now is used by some retailers to identify recordings to keep off their shelves, and by kids as an "In your face" seal of parental disapproval -- Gotta buy it!"
