Prince at the Piano From the Liz Smith column in Thursday's papers:
{{{After Prince played Lincoln Center Tuesday night, a private party in the basement of the old Paramount in Times Square made music history. Newly minted superstar Alicia Keys took the stage. This year she had a hit with Prince's old song "how Come U Don't Call Me Anymore." Prince, who had never met her, sat down at the keyboard and accompanied her. He refused to sing a duet, just grinning, shaking his head and playing.}}} Though it was the middle of the night, Ms. Keys sang deep-throated circles around every performer in the room. She was great! Tribune Media Services Inaccuracies aside (e.g.,they never met, music history was made (lol), deep throated circles...) at least they put HIS name in the headline and not the superstar. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

Yeah, the inaccuracies are kinda' funny. But the cool thing though is that at least it's being acknowledged that VERY few artists could pull together a group of young and old stars for a jam session the way Prince can... and just because he happened to be in town for a gig. After so much negative press over the last few years, it's good to see Prince finally get the props he deserves. Come on, now. You don't think gossip columnists bother with such inane things as facts. Just ask CJ.

They sure don't get facts right. Alicia was at the Celebration last year( I was there) and you can bet she met Prince. He was standing backstage while she sang. He didn't refuse to sing with her in NYC either, he just showcased her while he accompanied her on piano. These news reporters need to do some research.

I think her piano lessons are paying off nicely, but I'm not hearing anything special there. Alot of people have taken piano lessons. I don't get why she's being called a "superstar" when she has only released one album. Let's see what she does with the second album before she is elevated to "superstar" status.

Prince shouldn't be allowed to play the Lincoln Center. Now who's a racist, punk? (in my best Abe impersonation)
