ATL Assigned Seats on eBay???

Check out these auctions on Ebay...how can they be selling assigned seats for the first few rows when they are all supposed to be general admission NPGMC seats???? Either these auctions are total scams or something is very wrong:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...1341901851 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...1341836543 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...1341821789

[NPGMC needs to get on this and figure out what's up... -Ben]

Well, this mystery is hopefully solved. I wrote the NPGMC about this and they promptly replied that number of presale passes sold to the club members only took up the first 6 rows. So hopefully, the Ebay auctions won't conflict with this (even though one of the auctions is supposedly for 5th row center).

Anyway, this is basically better news for club members because we won't have to get there extra early now. If I'm going to be in Row 6 at the worst, I will just show up around 4:30 and not sweat it!

Actually, here's the actual text of the e-mail that NPGMC sent me in reply. There is nothing controversial about it, so I thought I was safe to post it so that their response is clear. Again, they were great to write me back as I told them they didn't even need to, and that I was just alerting them to a potential conflict/problem. Even though there have been a couple of problems with the tickets for past shows, you have to give the NPGMC personnel credit for quickly responding to e-mails at all hours of the day and night. It does seem like they are constantly working to refine the ticketing system and we should appreciate that at the very least!

Thank u 4 alerting us. We sold enuff presale concert passes over the
weekend 2 only need the first 6 rows. So while we r disgusted by these
auctions, they were not from the NPG Music Club section.

npgmc said that the 3 orchestra pit double letter rows (AA, BB, CC) are not on the seating charts out there. so when they say they have about 6 or 7 rows secured, factor those 3 in as well. if a scalper is selling an assigned seat, u know it's not one of the club's cuz members didn't get assigned seats. though we all know scalpers lie.

That's even better. I didn't see any orchestra pit area on the venue map, so I wasn't sure if there would be any "pit" seats for these shows. Anyway, the fact that I will surely be so close makes me even more excited about the show. If Prince is coming 2 your town and you like to sit up front, then the NPGMC $100 membership is well worth it. I've got my fingers crossed for an aftershow in Hotlanta as he's done them before, but you never know if u will be blessed by one of those on any given nite.

I realize that these tickets aren't in the NPGMC section but...

The previous shows appeared to have ALOT of non-members with better seating than NPGMC.
I think it makes for a pretty good arguement that NPG should be assigning seats.
If these tickets were in the NPGMC section - then you know that they came from a member, and it would be difficult to link anyone to their sale for General Admission.

Eye think when prince comes 2 the bay area "Concord" and LA, there will b alot of passes sold, most likely more than the first 6 rows. That means there's going 2 b some serious competition 4 good seats, oh well eye'll b ready.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but no one could scalp seats in the NPGMC section because there are no actual tickets - just concert passes which have to be picked up with a photo ID and you must enter the venue when you pick them up. It is also my understanding that you will need to show the pass/laminate to get in the section.

I have 2 tix for both nights. Suppose I can't find someone to go with me one night and sell the ticket at value. Is that scalping?

I take it that the NPGMC books the first 15 rows for the pre-sale then alerts Ticketmaster as to how many of those rows they will need judging by how many passes are booked. Ticketmaster then get the un-needed rows back to sell.Good plan.

People should stop whinging then cos you are all going to be very close. Certainly closer than Australia. sad

damn... all seats in the first 6 rows... this is gonna be great... i'm no longer anticipating a bloodbath, just some bruises and whatnot... razz

anyway, i kinda figured that he wasn't going to fill up 15 rows in atlanta... i based this on the fact that i believe most npgmc members frequent this site and post often, and the atlanta concert threads were never nearly as full active as concert threads for some of the other areas... it's kinda wierd, considering that this kinda functions as the concert for ga, nc, & sc... maybe the npgmc concentration is low down here... oh well, whatever... bring it on... i'm gonna have damn good seats..

It may come 2 that, believe it or not. I'm new 2 the town and most of my friends are in Florida, hate Prince, or don't like him enough 2 shell out $125. What the f**k is wrong with them? I am curious, however, and quite serious when I asked if this would b considered "scalping" since I obviously have zero interest in having my NPGMC membership bounced. I also have (even less) interest in swallowing $125 in ticket costs. Maybe it own't come 2 that, but if it does, shoot me an e-amil and I'll keep u in mind should the need arise. 1 week and counting...!

I don't think it's considered scalping unless you sell the ticket for more than face value.

actually most states have laws stating that you cannot sell a ticket for any price within a certain radius of the theater. you can look it up for Georgia (or a local law for Atlanta). whether someone enforces it or not and arrests you is something else. but you can get arrested, even if it's face value.
