hey y'all

I'm getting confused because of all the changes Prince is making with the presales. I'm going to be at the DC concert on March 30th and I have AA (front row) tickets. But since it is will-call, I am afraid everything will be made general admission due to the fact that the soundcheck is already general admission. I am hoping that the general admission crap for the concert itself takes effect with the Atlanta pre-sale. I mean, I do have reserved seating, so it's only fair I get my front row seats. My question is this. Do I have to worry about fighting everyone for first row?

PURPLMUSIK

naw.....no way they can do that.....we already got r confirmation thing and everything in which LIST the seat numbers on them.

No! this did not happen @ dc because there was the presale
allready. so don't worry about your seats and enjoy the concert.

It is just a guess, but having worked within the ticketing industry for a number of years, the problem with them handling the tickets are the seat number/location for each venue. One of the main reasons musicians utilize Ticketmaster is low cost (seriously) since they handle everything, not perfect mind you, and they have ticket machines that produce tickets with all the information needed to get you a seat.

I am pretty sure that they don't have a ticket machine that will produce seat information and therefore are just going to hand out passes. This is the best they are able to do, if they are going to do this themselves.

I agree with all of you that the LAST thing I want to do is get trampled on. It is a tough situation and they do appear to be trying their best to resolve the ticket problem.

Perhaps they could have Ticketmaster print up the tickets, give them to NPGMC and then they could hand them out to members at the Will Call window like they would the passes...this might be possible. Tickets are printed up in correct order so if you were in line together, you would ultimately be seated together.

Hope this helps.

Oh...my only true concern is that they do not guarantee a member a ticket in the presale.

The club members at the recent cleveland concert were very polite when it came to seating at the soundcheck. I didn't really notice anyone fighting for their seats (maybe it was because noone wanted to make an idiot out of themselves in front of Prince who was sitting at his piano when we walked in) wink

I do agree that the General Admission thing can get hairy though. I mean, SOMETIMES, you need to uh *ahem* use the facilities, lol. That wouldnt be very nice of someone in row 15 to run up and gank your row to seat in the middle of the show.

Im curious how this is going to affect the soundchecks.

This is a bad idea. Bad, bad idea. Why would anyone in their right mind pay the kind of $$$ that he is charging for this show and have to fight a GA sitting. No freakin way.

I bet there was never a problem with the Ticketmaster way of doing things it is just that the members that got the good seats did not bitch about them. They probably did not even attend the sound check to voice their opinions. BTW: did you know that you could try more than once to get the tickets you liked from ticketmaster? The first time for Louisville Ticketmaster wanted to send me to the Balcony but I declined and I eventually ended up with row 5 Isle.

In Chicago, I had great seats and was having a great dinner when the sound check was taking place. I want to make trips out of this tour that include more than standing in line wondering if I am going to get a view.

This is depressing and will most likely mean no more shows for me. The rest of my life is stressful enough, I enjoy Prince to let go, not get more stressed out.

Anyway, this is a bad, bad idea.

You r soooo right, tyme. This is a baaaad idea. It just makes me wonder what's next. My boyfriend will not pay $250 to see the purple guy.....so guess what? If I want to feel protected in line now, I've got to fork over the duckies. Before I was going alone (cuz nobody in there right mind will pay this kind of $ for someone they've seen perform over a dozen times.....except me!) Now I need a freakin bodyguard..... Yes, this is a very bad idea.

I agree, if he ends the tour in Mpls, I am not going to stand outside for hours on end for that kind of dough. The person in row 16 will be at home, got their ticket in their home, and the night of the concert will be relaxed, go down to the show and go to their seat, legs won't hurt and you won't be all butt tired. My girlfriend wants to go but she is not a die-hard and won't have standing around for the mad rush at the door!
$100 for membership, $250 for tickets = 15th row be there 5 hours before the concert with a broken neck:)
I don't understand how and why this is so hard to figure out? I have seen a lot a good ideas posted here at the org that made sense. Glad they are trying but I have been there and GA really doesn't feel like VIP when you waste entire day waiting.

Jesus Christ guys, what the hell'ls the real difference between 1st row, 5th row whatever. Until recently, I was sure I'd never even get THAT close in my whole life. If everyone's going to act like they're at a Who concert then I'll just calmly walk down and take my seat in the 10th row (God, how HORRIBLE), enjoy a kickass show/soundcheck/afterparty, then shake my head 3 months from now when Prince squashes the whole ida and the rest of the tour because his fans behave like they're at a Guns N Roses gig.

This is awful. The entire front rows are going to be taken up by 6'2" tall men who elbowed, pushed, shoved and fought each other and stepped on the women to get to those seats.

I don't know why NPGMC is under the mistaken impression that Prince fans are well behaved enough to handle something like this.

There will be warfare in the aisles.

no, no, no, you got it all wrong... it's gonna be people like me (5'7'') that are so short, they just sneak right through... when people are elbowing and shit, the shorter folks just slide right under the elbows... or kick people in the back of the kneecaps and run... heed my warning: you tall muthafunkas is going down!!! i'm just kidding...

well, at least i hope i'm just kidding... unfortunately, all i see in atlanta is bloodshed... when prince walks out for the soundcheck, he's going to be looking down on a bunch of bruised up and miseralbe people... oh well, i hope not...

GREAT IDEA LAV!! Have TM print up the tickets for the first 15 rows, and give them to NPGMC to hand out at the show with laminates. First person in line gets best tickets, etc. That way, you HAVE a seat, but it's still first come first serve, and you can wait in line with your friends.

BRILLIANT MOVE NPGMC!! Prince truly does care about his fans. With some more tweaking, it will be wonderful!! smile

Me too. I hope SOMEBODY'S getting tickets, cuz i sure ain't. I'm sitting here hitting refresh and watching npgmc's server crash. This was a brilliant idea. Here we are willing to spend $100 for the club, plus another $125 for EACH TICKET, and he's pulling this stuff. I think he's playing us for suckers. I'm maxing out credit cards left and right, just to see him this year. Two concerts plus a trip to mpls for the celebration ain't cheap. So far for my investment I haven't seen anything but a lot of aggravation. I hope he enjoys my money. I keep telling myself its about enjoying the music. Sheeeeit, I can enjoy the music at home with a cd and a badass sound system. A system I could've bought with all the cash i'm dropping to see him live. This ain't how you treat your fans.

yeah i've had the not-so-great experience of being pushed and shoved aside at concerts too. i figure, it means the most violent and insane fans are going to be nearest the stage, so i make it a point to hang in the back. music usually sounds better in the back anyway

but, you have to give the NPGMC credit for responding to fans' concerns and trying to correct the situation. it must be hard to be the NPGMC person who's setting this stuff up at each different venue.
