I'm not sure if this would be considered as confirmation, but in the
Detroit Free Press today, Brian McCollum has an article on
the MTV VMAs. The article talks about the performance rehearsals
and also states, "And here's a tip: Keep an eye out for the artist
formerly known as Prince, shceduled for an unpublicized appearance
to perform '1999.'"
