1999 Deemed 14th "Coolest" Album of All Time by Rolling Stone {{{Rolling Stone lists its 50 Coolest Albums of All Time in their current issue, and Prince's "1999" is listed at #14...}}}
"The Purple One requests the pleasure of your booty's company on his private jet, where your seat cushion can be used as a flotation device. Par-tay! Sounds like: Rubbery synth-funk odes to dance, music, sex and romance. Best Song: "Little Red Corvette", the best sex song, ever; no discussion allowed." Just so you know, "White Light/White Heat" by the Velvet Underground came in at the #1 spot...James Brown had #3, Sly had #11, Steely Dan had #13, The Brides of Funkenstein had #26, MJ had #32, and Madonna had #50. No mention of Barry Manilow...figures, those asswipes at RS don't know SHIT about cool no mo'...

Wow...Prince ranks 14th and people can still complain...Being this is a "cool" list...I think they might be going for an odd slant on their choices..Im not suprised that other albums are missing....

RS should quite publishing so many of these lists. It was cool in the late 80's (I learned a great deal from their lists of Best singles and best albums in that decade, though it's true I had everything to learn back then, and Prince seemed to be my intro for half the acts)...but now it's a an overused device. The only list I would like to see is the Best B sides of all time.... and I would expect Prince to dominate it.
