Uh, wellbeyondthechanceofevergettingaclue, why would James Brown be in the top 5 rock and rollers of all time? He was all about funk, was he not?

Sorry, kellyanne...but Life listed James Brown at #4...so once again, your philosophy of "talk first, think never" lifts you to a new height of stupidity...

Let's talk about stupidity, you knuckle draggin schmuck. It took you how many times to understand that I joined in 2002 for the full year 2002 membership & I still got the Rave Special Edition CD, despite the content of the e-mail stating otherwise? That is, if you even understand it now, which is unlikely. Maybe I need to explain it to you in baboon?

James Brown left his mark and went away quietly. Now doesn't he just set up cameras in womens' restrooms and get sued by people? His musical output barely attracts enough attention to be critiqued. Prince on the other hand made his mark, yet even though his star lost its shine long ago, he still wants to be treated like he's happening. He's not. He's nothing. His place on the lower end of polls like this is fitting. You know you'd be thrilled if he were near the top, and you and many others on this site would celebrate it like it was a fucking national holiday. You'd praise the journalist like he was worthy of the damn Nobel Prize. Prince is a has-been. A tosser. Yet you're one of his most avid supporters. Go you!

So, I've reached a new height of stupidity...well, I still have a way to go before I reach where your relatives are swinging around up in the trees.

What the hell are you babbling on about...lol...first you attempt to say JB wouldn't be considered a top 5 rock and roller since he's primarily funk, so it's a mistake for me to feel he should be listed there...then I come back and let you know that he is indeed in Life's top 5, so it wasn't a mistake on my part at all, it seems...and you respond by rambling on about the topic of another thread..lol..AND about Prince...neither of which have anything to do with where JB landed on this list and his deserving a top 5 spot...Holy shit, the monkeys are on fire today, KA...

Listen up, you chump --- [obs. deleted -Ben]. So sorry I didn't stay "on topic," it's so obvious that you ALWAYS do. In your original post, you said:

Not to mention this list seems to somewhat devalue R&B contributions...please put James Brown in the top 5, for he was the flashpoint for 4 decades of funk...unless, of course, the writers who came up with this idiotic poll don't value funk as a genre as much as, let's say, grunge or alternative or punk...

So the way I see it, after you bitched that James Brown MUST be included toward the top of this poll, you went and found yourself a copy of the magazine article and decided you'd feel vindicated after the fact. Personally, I think that's pretty fucking sad. Even more pathetic is that you're now here gloating about what amounts to nothing but dumb luck as he actually did appear in the poll.

And as for my comments relating to the subject of another post, of course, I just wanted to make sure it sunk in with you, Mustafa. Want that banana now? Eek eek.

Let's break down this argument, shall we? We'll leave out the little blurb concerning previous posts and focus soley on the James Brown situation.

It starts out with WB asking or wanting Life to include James brown in the Top 5, unaware that he is actually listed at #4.

KA then chimes in with her argument that James Brown shouldn't be in the Top 5 Rock n Rollers of all Time because he was essentially a Funk Artist. KA is also unaware of Life's list.
It then takes an unexpected turn when KA rambles on about JB's legal woes and Prince's fall from grace. LOL

Anyway, we are left KA saying it was "dumb luck" for WB that JB happened to be at #4 and that WB is "pathetic" in gloating over this.

The way I see it, KA was flat out wrong because what she suggests in her first comment, is that JB shouldn't be on this list at all, never mind the Top 5, because as she said, its a list of Rock N' Rollers and James Brown is "about Funk". Why? Because James was an R&B Artist in his time. We all know R&B stands for Rhythm and Blues. With Blues being the base for which Rock n roll was founded. Elvis, Led Zeppelin, Cream, and yes even Black Sabbath are all essentially Blues driven.
So basically KA's original argument is null and void. And whether or not JB is in the top 5 has nothing to do with luck, "dumb" or otherwise.

Not that it matters, but I declare WellBeyond the winner of this argument.

BTW KA, if you want to bring up past posts, I can bring up one that makes your reading comprehension skills look so pathetic, a 3rd grader would laugh at you.

Just curious...wasn't it Chuck Berry who "set up the cameras in women's restrooms"?

Try it, hon. And by the way, you're right. It doesn't matter who you think is the "winner." James Brown shouldn't appear on any Best of Rock & Roll list any more than Prince should be near the top of such a list.

"Ben the Prince.org guy" should consider opening his eyes & realize that it goes both ways. I stopped a while ago, declaring a Kelly Anne 2.0, but no one else seemed to bother with their insults directed toward me. Case in point, there's an entire thread devoted to bashing me, yet you haven't exactly rushed to shut that down.

Can we have your definition of "flaming so we know what's acceptable?"

Obviously I don't need to refer to previous posts, because this will do just fine.

If you don't think he should be on the list because you feel his output isn't significant enough, fine thats your opinion, your entitled.
On the otherhand if you don't think his music is a part of Rock N' Roll Lore, then your wrong. And once again you failed to comprehend fact.

I'm sure what I think doesn't matter to you, I anticipated as much. But when I state fact and you argue against it, thats just sad.

Well, personally, if kellyanne is really gone, I am very happy about that. I never responded to any of her posts, even though I had wanted to, because I didn't want a barrage of obscenities thrown at me.
I have gotten into a few heated discussions with people here and that's fine, but kellyanne was the only one who got into personal attacks and vulgar name-calling, which is totally unnecessary!
