$5.5M sale on Bridle Path heats up house market
By BRIAN GRAY
Toronto Sun
Bridle Path residents -- and all Toronto home-owners -- can party like it's 1989.

{{{The $5.5-million purchase of a house in the exclusive Toronto neighbourhood by a holding company possibly linked to pop star Prince -- has rekindled memories of the late 1980s housing boom.}}}

"We're expecting about 7,000 home sales in March," said Toronto Real Estate Board president David Pearce.

House prices in Toronto this month are expected to equal the previous high-water mark of 1989, he said.

Prices are expected to average $287,000 but the million-dollar home sales are few and far between.

Pearce said there may be one or two that exceed a $2-million price tag this month and in the last 12 months seven on the Bridle Path have sold at an average price of $2.8 million.

MARRIED TORONTO GIRL?

In October, Gamillah Holdings bought the Bridle Path home. The president of the company is Manuela Testolini, a 25-year-old Torontonian, who is rumoured to have married Prince in a ceremony in Hawaii on New Year's Eve.

Gamillah is the title of a song by the 43-year-old pop star.

The possibility of having Prince as a neighbour, doesn't make much difference to residents of the exclusive neighbourhood in the Bayview and Lawrence Aves. area.

At least two had never even heard of His Purpleness who has, in the past, been known by a symbol and referred to as The Artist Formerly Known As Prince.

The highest price ever recorded for a Bridle Path neighbourhood home is $7.55 million for a house on High Point Rd. in 2000.

Batdance

I don't think Prince should have bought this house in Toronto. There is too much news coverage of this. Toronto keeps going on and on with excitement because a celeb has bought a home in their city. I thought Toronto was a more sophisticated city than that. They are acting like overexcited bumpkins.

There has been TV coverage, radio, and newspaper coverage. The interior of the house has been shown on TV. Neighbors are being interviewed.

I didn't know that Toronto was like this. I thought it was a cosmopolitan city where a famous person could live or visit in relative peace.

Batdance - it isn't just Toronto

Prince and bride buy Toronto mansion

AFP - Pop singer Prince and his new bride have snapped up a 5.5 million Canadian dollar ($A6.72 million) mansion in Toronto's most expensive neighbourhood, according to real estate sources quoted by the National Post.

The city's registry listed the house's buyer in early October as Gamillah Holdings, whose president is 25-year-old Manuela Testolini, whom Prince is reported to have married on New Year's Eve in Hawaii.

The diminutive 43-year-old Minneapolis-based singer and songwriter was previously married to Mayte Garcia in 1996, but the two divorced in 2000.

He was recently spotted at a Toronto Raptors basketball game with a mystery woman thought to have been Testolini,
a Toronto native.

The newspaper could not confirm the sale either with seller or the buyer.
Renovation work on the mansion has started and mortgage payments began in January after a 1.375 million Canadian dollar ($A1.67 million) downpayment was made.

Very interesting.....

Was he ever able to sell the $3.5 million house in Spain?

Maybe there's something I'm not understanding here, but wouldn't it have been more frugal to renovate and redecorate the house in Chanhassen to suit his new marriage rather than paying $5.5 million and millions more to renovate an entirely different house in Canada?
