INDIANAPOLIS PREVIEW AT STARNEWS.COM How much will u pay?
{{{The hype on Prince's spring tour is that His Purple Majesty is "giving audiences a show like they've never seen before." A show like they've never paid so much for, either -- $100 tops. Will he get it? Will we party like it's 1999?}}} This we know: The 8 o'clock show in the Murat Theatre WILL be different because the Artist Formerly Known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince will play a lot of sweet stuff from his current jazz-oriented work, The Rainbow Children, plus some tunes he hasn't played in years. Prince is one of the most influential artists in modern rock history, constantly reshaping his approach to music with a mix of funk, pop and rock -- and now jazz. This stripped-down show -- sans the bungee cords, pyrotechnics and dancers of past tours -- is playing in smaller venues such as the Murat across the country. Maceo Parker and Candy Dulfer join Prince on stage, and his band reportedly is operating without a set list. With '80s music all the rage again, he's just gotta play 1999, Little Red Corvette, I Would Die 4 U, When Doves Cry and, of course, Purple Rain, a few of the decade's best. Tix: $100, $85 and $50, box office and Ticketmaster, 1-317-239-5151 or http://www.cc.com. http://www.starnews.com/a...tml#prince | |
