i prefer her long curly hair,,,,not everyone has that kind of hair,

Hmmm. I really can't see anything attractive in this woman. It looks like her face is caving in.

Mani is a lovely looking woman. She doesn't look like a model or model wannabe. She just looks like a regular, attractive woman. There's definitely not an ounce of "skank" in her. She's beautiful and her and Prince make a great couple.

Frankly, I find the entire Mani thing so distasteful, that I can barely to listen to "Call My Name" -- a fantastic ballad (a la older Prince tunes,) which otherwise would have been my new favorite spin were it not for the sheepish undercurrent of insincerity (and tinge of vindictiveness?) There was a time when the hypocritical disparity between Prince's lyrics and the way he actually lived his life were nothing more than trivial incidentals for me. I mean, I did what he *said* not what he did, and pretty much predicated both my sexual and spiritual growth upon the Magic of Prince, enriching my life in so many foundational ways.


I've been following some of the recent posts about Mani and Mani vs. Mayte and now I feel compelled to speak my peace...

Really, there is not much more needed to be known about Mani than the basic scenario to make some founded assessments. She may very well be a perfectly nice girl (at least superficially) but the general facts do not speak very highly of her character. Ironically [to criticisms posted about Mayte] Mani seems to have molded herself entirely to suit the sole (and lofty!?) project of snagging Prince.

She was/represents something Prince himself has mocked and ridiculed for years -- the consummate FANATIC. She's the poster girl for the ultimate Prince stalker because her strategy was much more insidious and calculated than hiking up her dress to him at a club -- hers was a slow & psychological mission, and one that was presumably at the expense of an entire life she left behind. Don't get me wrong -- she obviously carried out every Prince Girl's *fantasy* -- but seriously, to make it one's life ambition, to sacrifice everything else not knowing the man anymore than the rest of us do through his music, is completely wack. I don't know one stable, emotionally healthy woman with a life and purpose that would give everything up to try, even in the strongest days of Prince-obsession (and trust me, we've all had "if only he knew *me*...I-understand-him-in-a-way-that-no-one-else-could" moments.) Not only is that really strange, but it is also very impractical. For starters, you'd have to be independently wealthy...and then have an over-inflated sense of self.

There is no comparison with the way in which his relationship developed with Mayte. She has said many times that she barely knew who he was when she was hired by him to dance -- what she was *trained* to do. Her mother wasn't a Prince fanatic, either, just a bit of an opportunist in that she saw a potential gig for her daughter due to the Middle Eastern influences of his music at the time (Theives In The Temple, I believe.) Any "(eager-to) pleasing" Mayte did over the course of her tenure with NPG has more to do with the fact that she was young, inexperienced and not really exposed to much else. Isolated and in love, she did as he insisted. That was Prince's game.

The fact of Mani's courting him while married to Mayte (and during the baby era) is an entirely other shady discourse. It is almost painful to me that Prince -- my hero -- would support at any level this kind of blatant disrespect. C'mon, Man. You're better than that...
Confirmed reports of her wearing Mayte's clothes, etc., is nothing if not completely FOUL, even if it was initiated by a twisted (read: jilted, vengeful) Prince.

And finally, I find it unbelievable that anyone would think that Mani's acquisition was clever or meritous. It doesn't take Freud to see what needed to be done: Watch Prince sink into spiritual decline; note his inclination towards a particular Jehovah's mentor; honor his need for guidance and nurturance without relinquishing power; and casually dip into the readings, learning the religious principles for yourself to be used in intimate late night conversations about "GodLifeLoveHappinessWorldPeace". Remember that she not only had the advantage of waiting until he became emotionally vulnerable, but also of witnessing what went wrong between him & Mayte (where Mayte "failed.")

And wasn't Mani a pre/law student? In other words, she was trained in the art of persuasion and not necessarily Truth...

Somehow there's nothing pretty about that to me, but then I do see Beauty in a true strength of character, not a constructed one...

How does anyone around here know that Mani tried to get Prince while he was with Mayte and was an obssessed fan trying to get into his pants??? How do people claim to know this with so much proof?
