Morris Day new album doesn't cut it!!!!!!!!!

I personally think this album was just thrown together the last minute without any real thinking about it. i was disappointed about the live tracks becausethe songs was babdly edited. i personally did not get the real live feel from the album . i mean like One Nite alone cd you could feel it live and you could hear the audience, unlike this cd. the new tracks are so so, personally he should just wentb to the vault rerecorded some old tracks from the time. ain't damn thing changed sounds like a Nelly reject song , I like in my ride, Well maybe in another 14 years w e might getr a brand new Time album hopefully with all the original members.

agreed.weak ass shit!He isn't even capitalizing as much as he should. That would be a win/win situation. We would get what we want and he would get paid. Plus, how can he be listed as sole songwriter on the time songs?man...

Didn't they play the album for free on the VH1 listening party? I taped most of it & I agree, it's pretty weak tracks . They wern't bad when they opened for Prince at Staple's though.

Listened 2 the whole CD on vh1.com. The live trax r the best IMO, have mixed opinions over the new trax. If Morris wanted 2 work with rappers he shoulda worked with Snoop etc. than that woulda been better IMO.

I never liked The Time anyway. They always sounded like a band with songs that Prince deemed not good enough for his own albums.

I totally agree.

on 2 different occasions in the last 5 years, I've recorded
(for my own "personal use", of course)
Morris Day & The Time when they've been on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.
those live performances were good, despite the fact that they had to cut away to commercial during some songs.

instead of buying this new "Morris Day" cd, I could as well simply listen to the cassettes I recorded from the TJMS.

1st, it seems that all of the "live" tracks on this album were done in the last 5-7 years, without all the original members. I was under the (false) impression that these live tracks were recorded between 81-83, when The Time was at its peak & had Prince plotting their demise. I think Tori is a great guitarist, but he is not Jesse Johnson. Freeze can smack & pop that bass with the best of them, but he is not Terry Lewis. "Chance" was solid on the keys & synths, but he is no Jimmy Jam.

also, nearly all these "live" songs are 4 minutes or shorter. this is disappointing, coming from a group known for its "extended jams". again, if songs from the original group had been used, from their tours between 81-83.. it's much more likely that longer & probably better versions would have appeared on the cd.

then, WHAT THE HELL is up with the censoring in this album???
there were 2 or 3 times where cuss words were either muted or "scrambled".
what - did that little purple man edit this cd???
did that little purple man give Morris a song & in exchange for Morris promising to cut out the obscenities? Morris has been known to cuss; not all the time, but whenever he wanted to.
now out of nowhere sudden Morris or someone else doesn't want cussing on the record???

lastly, there are the 4 new "studio tracks", which in fact, are attributed to Morris. GOOD. to attribute them to The Time - even to Morris Day & The Time - would be an insult to those groups. these 4 tracks are quite indistinguishable, mostly uninspired, & sound almost as bad as "Gimme what you got", from Morris' last forgettable solo cutout classic "Guarenteed".
did Morris not learn anything from that disaster???
Morris Day - with or without The Time - did not make a name for himself trying to copy today's trends.

a lot of debate has occured about Prince's influence over The Time
(back in the day, when he was REALLY Prince & not the watered-down, Watchtower pushing, shit-talking shadow of his former self that he is today)
back then Prince apparently kept Morris & the fellas on a short leash..
true or not, they definitely did their best music with Prince's involvement, even if Prince did "everything".

What time is it?
it's time to either dig up & release "Old dogs, new tricks",
pray for the miracle of 1 more reunion of The Time,
or Morris & The Time should just go back to their club-sized tour circuit.

I am someone who has always loved The Time - & even Morris Day & The Time;
but this Morris Day cd is a complete disappointment in my opinion.

if there's anyone who wants my copy of this cd, orgnote me & I will probably send mine to you.
I'm that disappointed with this cd.
I'll see you tonight..

ADDENDUM :

it's like with this new cd, Morris wanted to have it both ways :
he wanted to take credit for a "solo album" with 4 of his own new songs,
while still milking the KICK-ASS funk from The Time from years ago.

who knows if other current members had the chance to be on this cd or not,
but the way it turned out, I could see them saying "yeah, Morris.. you go 'head on & do your thang with the cd.."

yeah..
it's about time, alright..
I'll see you tonight..
