what the hell happened to morris day after all the promise he showed in PR?

Morris Day was universaly lauded as one of the best actors in Purple Rain and a great comic actor .His career as an actor should have really taken off from that point.WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED???!!!????

I totally agree. When 'Purple Rain' came out,he was getting RAVE reviews for his acting, with some critics suggesting that he could even become the next Richard Pryor.I expected big things from him,but instead he did some forgettable bit roles in flop films ("The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane") and even co-starred in a lame TV show where he played a hairdresser (can't remember what it was called).Kinda makes you wonder exactly what his agent was there for...lol...

Musically, his solo career didn't really seem to take off, either. His first solo album 'The Color Of Success' was a hit,but subsequent albums didn't fare so well.

oh yeah i remember watching that show when i was little. I forget what it is called, but it had sheryl lee ralph in it and some other chick. If i remember correctly he was a straight, womanizing hair dresser. It was quite funny...or maybe it was funny when i was a kid....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I remember a late-80s interview where Morris complained that, after 'Purple Rain',he was offered a ton of scripts but they wanted him to go down and audition for the roles.Apparently,Morris felt that he already showed what he can do in 'Purple Rain',and that he shouldn't have to audtion for any role. With that kind of massive ego,it's easy to see why he never really got alot of quality roles.

yeah the show was called New Attitude and it only lasted 6 episodes. He also did a pilot called Heart and soul that was not picked up. There was also another showed called Private dicks or hotel dicks with him and Jerome as hotel detectives, but it never even made it to the airways

I'm really surprised that he hasn't had a show on the WB or UPN

...What about Jerome. Even Prince said he was expecting big things from him (Jerome). I imagined he had crumbled under the pressure. (?)

In late 1986,Jerome left the Prince camp and signed a recording contract with A&M Records...lol...I don't know exactly what they (A&M) expected him to do on a record, since he obviously can't sing.
