Paul Peterson update http://www.startribune.co...07428.html
Published Mar 1, 2002 LEFT IN THE COLD Twin Cities musician-producer Paul Peterson got to share the Winter Olympics spotlight with Utah's first family of music, Donny & Marie, producing and arranging a 90-second rendition of "We Are Family" for the closing ceremony. He sat in one of the stadium's luxury boxes, hob-nobbing with 'N Sync, Earth Wind & Fire and a bunch of speed-skating types (in a former life he was a competitive skater). So what happened to the Osmonds' shining moment? "NBC cut off half my song because they came out of a commercial," Peterson said. But unlike most disgruntled Olympians, he'll get a second chance: He wrote a tune, "Inspire the Spirit," for Donny to sing at the opening ceremonies of the Paralympics, starting Thursday in Salt Lake City.
