Mad Props to Atlanta Bliss and Mad Props to Eric Leeds

Them boys can play their tails off. I was just listening to the Symbol album and the horn

work on that album is so beautiful all the way through, especially on BlueLight.

It seems like the time period both play with Prince but mainly Eric you can really tell how

much they meant to some of his records during that period. When exactly did Eric leave

and quit playing with or working with him on records? Does anyone know? Anyone know

why he left? I think it says something in a few books but I didn't really get a clear picture.

How many albums did Eric and Atlanta work with him on?

Never mind what it says in a few books: a quick read of the liner notes to the prince album to which you were just listening will tell you that neither Eric Leeds nor Atlanta Bliss play on the album.

Still same thing though they both played great on whatever stuff they were on.

Great respect to whoever did play on Symbol then.

I thought they were with him during that time period so I thought it was them.

As far as reading the liner notes that doesn't always do the trick either because someone is

playing on Slow Love on Sign O' the Times and gets no liner credit and last I checked the

one thing he can't play is Horns. Not to say he could'nt learn he just doesn't.

I guess you were just jerking my chain because just as I thought I was right.

Just looked at the liner notes and it says in white print Eric Leeds - Sax.

So again I say Mad Props to you Eric and yes indeed you can play your ass off.

biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin Eye give U your proper respect.

Props to the NPG hornz on the other tracks.

Yep, Eric plays on 'Blue Light'.

Eric Leeds first recorded for Prince (at the start of The Family project) in July, 1984.

He first performed live with Prince on stage on the Purple Rain tour (reports conflict as to which concert, but Los Angeles. February 1985 looks likely).

Matt Blistan first recorded for Prince in November 1985, and I think first performed live with Prince in March, 1986.

Eric has played on and off for Prince including his performances on the N.E.W.S. album, and of course he can be seen guesting on the Aladdin Las Vegas DVD at the end of the One Nite Alone tour in 2003.

As far as Matt is concerned, Eric stated in an NPGMC chat in 2003 that Matt no longer works as a professional musician. I think he last performed with Prince in February 1989 at the end of the Lovesexy tour.

Official Prince albums on which they are bothe heard together:

Parade
Sign O' The Times
Lovesexy
Batman
Grafitti Bridge
The Black Album

They also perform together with Prince on Chaka Khan's album 'CK'

Eric has played on various other officially released album and single projects (sometimes just for one track or mix) for Prince over the years including on Madhouse's '8' and '16', 'Emancipation' and 'N.E.W.S.'
