Just get hold of The Bird, Jerk Out, Pandemonium and the outtakes Murph Drag and 9 Lives and you're done. The rest is boring.

The Time and What Time Is It? are essential to any Prince fan worth his salt.

Ice Cream Castles is worth a listen but Pandemonium has about 4 good tracks. the rest is substandard filler.

Aw hells no, I think Pandemonium is great. It's the first Time album that the guys actually played on. It may have been two songs too long, but it's a lot better than Ice Cream Castle. Oddly enough, all the substandard filler were the Time tracks on Graffiti Bridge. I didn't care for those at all.

The Graffiti Bridge tracks are the first Time songs I really heard and they are great (OK, maybe not 'Shake' but that's fun too and the almost exact blueprint for 'Cream'), so I was expecting a lot from The Time albums.
Alas.

I think it's different for those of us that grew up with those songs as opposed to hearing them for the first time 5-10 years later.

IMO the best albums by The Time r their debut CD 'The Time' and 'Pandemonium'. 'What Time Is It?' is also a very good album. 'Ice Cream Castle' is OK although IMO it only has 3 strong trax, 'My Drawers', 'Jungle Love' & 'The Bird'.

Sorry, but I consider myself to be a big Prince fan. I just don't like everything he puts out.
As I said before, most Time songs are just jams.

And I know who wrote and played almost everything on those albums. As opposed to most people here (judging from the amount of 'stupid' questions that are being asked on the forums) I have actually read D.M.S.R. and most of Uptown's other output.

Like butterscotchpimp i don't post here to often etc... but you sound like one of those late starters, what do mean you read the books!!!, I think if you have anything by the Time you should sell it and just collect Prince stuff just those guys who think 'Lovesexy' is the best thing since sliced bread. For me i consider my collection to be a 'Minneapolis' collection which wouldn't be worth shit without the Time, Jesse Johnson etc.

I mentioned that I read the books to answer Butterscotch's amazingly interesting question 'WHO do you think WROTE the majority of their songs?'

Yes I love Lovesexy, that's what made me a fan in '88. I guess you'd still call me a late starter, but I love the Beatles as well and I wasn't around when they were putting albums out...

Nobody has mentioned "Grace" and "Tricky", the two B-sides, and they're funky as hell wink

Isn't that Prince's vocals on "Tricky" instead of Morris?
