I never heard a album from the TIME

I only know the songs from the movies, that song with cool bass and a telephone number, jungle love and chocolate.

Am I missing something?

You sure are, they had 3 great albums in my opinion, the first three, basically, they are Prince songs but the are Prince at his funkiest. The time as a live band were bad as hell.

Just get hold of The Bird, Jerk Out, Pandemonium and the outtakes Murph Drag and 9 Lives and you're done. The rest is boring.

"The Bird" is one of the weakest songs the Time ever recorded, as is "Jungle Love" for that matter. I never heard Pandemonium, but their first three albums are solid.

I still think the title track to Ice Cream Castles is one of their most underrated songs.

The Time and What Time Is It? are essential to any Prince fan worth his salt.

Ice Cream Castles is worth a listen but Pandemonium has about 4 good tracks. the rest is substandard filler.

I dig the Time's first three albums just about all the way through. The fourth one

Pandemonium is somewhat week in spots but there are a few tracks that sound like

trademark The Time songs. I don't have any of these albums now though. I need to

go back online and look to see if I can buy them back.

Forget ice cream castles.. it's pop fluff.. for the true funk, you need "Get it up" and "Cool", from their first album and "777-9311" from the second album"What time is it" Those are the ones that made them famous. Even T.L.C. and Tupac made remakes off of those cuts!

Most Time songs are just 1-idea jams stretched to 10 minutes. When Prince plays '777-9311' himself he only plays the bassline, because that's the only interesting thing in the song.

Then again, if you think 'Musicology' is funky then buy these FUNKY Time albums right now!

Don't have to be funky to be good but I think they're good albums just the same. I like

the time albums where it gets in a groove and jams for 9 and 10 minutes on certain songs.

Each one his own opinion. You don't have to like them but some people do and I am 1

of them.

I don't post here a lot, because i don't see anything that makes me want to post.

And then i read that.

Wow.

Why are you in here? How do you think you're a Prince fan, if you don't like the Time?

WHO do you think WROTE the majority of their songs?

You can hear Prince ALL OVER The Time's first album. He sings his ass off on "The Stick".

The first two albums are MUST HAVES for Prince fans, or i'm sorry to inform you that you're NOT A PRINCE FAN.

Ice Cream Castles is alright, but "My Drawers" and "Chili Sauce" are worth the price of admission alone.

Pandemonium is freaking amazing. I don't get why P didn't use more songs from this album in Graffiti Bridge instead of the stuff he wrote for them that didn't fit.

Alright, i'm done. Back to lurking.

Sorry, but I consider myself to be a big Prince fan. I just don't like everything he puts out.
As I said before, most Time songs are just jams.

The Graffiti Bridge tracks are the first Time songs I really heard and they are great (OK, maybe not 'Shake' but that's fun too and the almost exact blueprint for 'Cream'), so I was expecting a lot from The Time albums.
Alas.

And I know who wrote and played almost everything on those albums. As opposed to most people here (judging from the amount of 'stupid' questions that are being asked on the forums) I have actually read D.M.S.R. and most of Uptown's other output.

The first three all had six songs on them. The first two had 4 great songs and the others were OK. Ice cream castles has 3 great songs, but I am really burned out on the Bird now. Pandemonium also has 4 great songs, but it has more alot of filler on it as well. if you trimmed it down to the best six it would compare favorably with the other 3. Even with the filler I take it over ice Cream castles

I made my own ESSENTIAL The Time CD:

1. Get It Up
2. Jungle Love
3. Wild And Loose
4. 777-9311
5. Pandemonium
6. The Walk
7. Chocolate
8. C.O.O.L.
9. The Bird
10. Gigolos Get Lonely Too
11. My Drawers

Because most of these songs are 7-8 minutes long, that's
all that would fit on an 80 minute CD-R.
It truely hurt my feelings that Jerk Out, another 7 minute
song, couldn't make the CD.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

nice list, but you have to add Blondie and the skillet. Not only do they rock, but it also shows what that they can actually make some great songs without Prince's involvment
