as of Celebration 2002, he was still around. even playing percussion occasionally. (not drums. percussion).

He had that group the Fonky Bald Heads - so called because using the word "funky" would be a violation of the Trades Description Act.

Kirky J's production work was fine...

It just didn't suit Prince's work, IMO.

it was ok, alittle amateurish to me (and i'm a producer) it seemed really stiff and cold,

i guess prince wanted to finally get into digital music recording that's why he used kirk, most of his work before then sounded analog, emancipation had a very cold digital sound to it, minus a few tracks, "saviour" and "betcha by golly wow" being examples, and those tracks were done by the Gold Experience era NPG.

terrible, terrible, terrible
ruined emancipation...i just listened to white mansion today...that could've been a great song without that stiff, impersonal programming

This is true... I enjoyed the albums he released. It just didn't sound good with Prince.

Please, someone in the area go to this - $8 for a one hour lesson. You can make snide comments about how much you love John Blackwell.

And ask him what Damon and Tony are up to.

just for the record for all;

Kirk is playing with the band and now i cannot remember the name of them but they play Wed. at a club called Jazzmines downtown Minneapolis. that is where chance howard use to play with the same band. it was chances band. i think chance and kirk hooked it up.

he does the fitness training on the side. and from the looks of the pics. i would say he has hit the gym right. he has gotten together a plan for many who want to shape up, not to mention still working with prince on many projects. he has been with him since purple rain days so ... you know as far as i know he is one of the few who prince still trusts and is a dear friend with. i would have to disagree with some i think Kirk is a very talented man. proven by the fact he still is around. unlike many of the other band mates.

tommy Barberella still does music and still plays with the band Greazy meal when they are able to get together- plus they are also working on a new album - cd whatever.

Sonny T. goes with Michael Bland every now and then and tours with Mike Scott along with other musicians. they usually go to Italy alot. Micheal still plays at Bunkers when he can. although i haven't seen Sonny in a long time. think he is just chillin. last time i saw Sonny T. he played the f@#* out of his bass and prince was there (Bunkers), prince thought he was so good went up to the stage and threw money at sonny and left. i was back stage when sonny was counting the wod. so i am sure he still has the funk.

just because you don't see them in the limelight does not mean they are not making waves behind the curtain. lots of times kirk helps prince in the studio. Kirk is a wonderful family man who invests his time here. which is to me the most important. he is probably the nicest truest one i have met yet in the business.

thanks all.

oops i meant Tom Scott. forgive the name error. think i am glad to see Mike Scott playing with prince these days - so his name is on my mind i am thinking.

however they have all toured together in other countries, Mike scott, Micheal Bland and Sonny t.

thanks. peace
