I saw The Time several years ago in Chicago... they were WAY better then. I was pretty disappointed in the choice of song as well as the performance. Whoever said Prince defies time while the rest of us grow old was right on the money. I think Morris and Jerome need to find a new gig.

I saw it and noticed that not only did Leno say it was Morris Day performing but he also said that Morris was releasing the album. I'm not very familar with what the Time has been up to and who is in it anymore. And I only have "What Time Is It?" on CD. Are the only original members left Morris and Monte (Jerome was there too, which is great).

I think Jellybean Johnson is still the drummer... although if it's him, he looks nothing like he did on the cover of 'ice cream castle'....

I think Morris and Jerome falling down WAS part of the act. I saw them at Hollywood park about a month ago and they did the same thing pretty much. Who knows maybe they are just 2 old now and can't pull their moves anymore lol They needed to play some new songs. when will they get out of the past!

I was wondering about the falling down hmm, when I was watching it.

I love the Time and I have seen them live since there first tour opening on the Controversy Tour. I must have seen them over 20 times in my life and that isnt counting TV and video performances. THat was easily the weakest performance I have seen from them. They seemed tired and old for the first time. I didnt get that same excitement that I usually get from seeing Morris onstage.

Oh well, I am getting tired and old as well and everyone cant defy time like Prince does.

It was fun to see the MD and the Time perform... but I agree it was somewhat lackluster. I think that Leno's cheesy outdoor venue in the afternoon light added to the lack of excitement they might otherwise have generated in more of a club-like setting. I also noticed that they did look a tad older... and I am conviced that somewhere in the deep annals of Paisley Park... a portrait of Prince is aging. rainbow

I felt bad when he fell, although I wasn't sure, now reading the post above, if it was part of the act. Morris Day looks good, he hasn't changed much, if not at all. I think Jay Leno should've interviewed him & he should've played one of his new songs. I think more TIME should've been given to familiarize people with him. It was nice he played 'The bird', but he should've also let him sing a new song from the CD...again, more TIME should've been given, especially after all this TIME.

From what I can tell, Jay's show usually repeats itself the very next week (exactly seven days later) at 2:05 am EDT. So, for those who missed it, this episode should be repeated on 6/2 at 2:05 am EDT.

I thought the exact same thing! About it being weak! They were here in Vegas in March and performed 2 of their new songs, wonder why they didnt do it there?

Damn, I forgot to tell "baby daddy" (Jeff, The Time's keyboardist) to give a signal to the org.
I just left a message on his cell, hopefully they haven't taped the show yet. If he gets the message watch for him to bring his left hand to the brim of his hat and slowly drag it across. The next "TIME" he's on tv I'll have him make an "O" with his right hand as a what's up to The Org! This will be a fun game if they get more tv appearances. Look for them to pop up with P again soon too. biggrin
Teri

wow, an "O"?!! bored

nice 2 c them on tv . It was sad 2 have 2 c Morris and Jerome fall on eachother.. sad

It was part of the act. They do that all the time now. Saw them do it in Norfolk. As you can tell, Morris isn't the dancer he used to be, so I think they decided to get some humor out of his aging. Jerome looks the same.
