Brownmark:"Next time" is dope!

Hey his "Just like that" album is average to me but "Next time" is pure class in my book! Anyone else love this track!

Yes, I like it very much biggrin It's a genuine Minneapolis funk!

BTW, would you help me to understand what the chorus says
exactly when it sounds "my hea.. my hea.." ? This can be
heard in some funk songs.

I thought the entire 'Just Like That' album was extremely catchy as well as the tracks he produced for Chico DeBarge around the same time. Brownmark had a knack for writing pop hooks back then. His second album was funkier, but the songs weren't as memorable.

Personally, i think, and have always thought that LEVI was the best bass player P ever had. He was much better than BrownMark and Sonny T. That solo he did in the "Sign O' the Times" movie was awesome. Even P said in an interview with Chris Rock on VH1 that Levi TAUGHT Rhonda. BrownMark is very good however and is underrated.

Ah, but if you go back to the first interview Prince did for Rolling Stone in 1984, he said that if he didnt have Brownmark that he would not have bass in his music. AND - unlke all of the other Revolution members - Brownmark is the only one to have an album produced on the Paisley Park label (Mazarati).

Brownmark was the shit. To me, he was P's best bassist. His solo albums were killing too, but my fave is Mazarati. Even though P wrote 100mph and Strawberry Lover {uncredited}, the rest of the album is one of the best from Paisley Park records.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."
