It is a nice album for listening now and then. Some weaker songs, but as a whole it is a good album!!! I bought my first one for a lot of money.... Many years later I saw one for €1.-... Bought it anyhow, you never now when the 1st one is going to be damaged... hehehehhe!!

Any Prince music lover should have this one!

Album is first class hands down! Unlike other time albums, this is alot more varied and includes first rate funky rock like "Blondie" and "Skillit"! Also has stand out ballads like "Donald trump (black version)", very dated but who cares, and "Sometimes I get lonely" which is a first class catchy but not corny!

Also has perhaps my all-time fav track ever "Pandimonium", that track is a pop/newjack/funk masterpiece that is brilliant to play at parties! Iam not sure if Prince co-wrote that one, though iam sure Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis co-wrote it with Jesse johnson!

"It's your world" has quite good lyrics actually (to a funky beat of course!) and "Databank" swings brilliantly!

It may be very hard to find, but is essential for fans of The Time and in general late 80's pop/funk!

"schools in.....
"Give me a little bit of that pepper....."
"Fellas (yeah!),Iam back (back!)"
"Jerk it, jerk it...."

Also Jesse Johson does possibally the most fierce guitar solo on "Blondie"! Seriously the dude is as good if not better than Prince! Certainly one of the best solo's ever! The sound he makes is just incredible and very flashy and loud too! Should be up their with the all-time greats (but then so should prince so.....)

It did? I remember seeing the video a few times after it came out, and there was a maxi-single released, so I figured it had to have been somewhat of a hit, but I certainly didn't realize it went to #1!

PP4, do you know on which chart it went to #1?

'Pandemonium' is a great album, although my fave album by 'The Time' is their debut album 'The Time'. I would say 'Pandemonium' is a very close 2nd tho. Jesse is a fantastic guitarist and his solo's on 'Blondie' and 'Skillet' r awesome.

My fave songs from the CD r:

Pandemonium
Jerk Out
Chocolate
Blondie
Skillet
Data Bank
Sometimes I Get Lonely
My Summertime Thang

I heard Morris is releasing a solo CD which is supposed 2 b released in June. The original 'The Time' should reform with Jesse, Jimmy Jam & Lewis, Monte, Jellybean, Jerome and ofcourse Morris!

The whole album is good. yeah #1 on R&B like some1 said b4 on here. Chocolate was performed on Soul Train also and was supposed 2 be a video but never fell thru. They shudda released Pandemonium & Blondie as singles 2! But they said the group was endin' and the reunion ran out by the time Chocolate was supposed 2 come out...plus Jimmy & Terry being busy in those times..

"Chocolate" actually did come out as a single but didn't really go anywhere. There was also a video for it. In the beginning of the video, there are little kids playing each member of The Time. It was pretty cute.

Pandemonium is good...not great imo. I LOVE the rock tunes on it, also think Jerk Out is as good as any song they've done. But What Time Is It? is the quissential Time album imo, with the 1st album being almost as good.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I think 'Pandemonium' is sloppy and inconsistent boxed

Yes,there are some good tunes..."JerkOut" is alot of fun,"It's Your World" and the title track are superb, and the ballad "Sometimes I Get Lonely" is wonderful....but overall,it just doesn't feel like a Time album.A handful of the songs sound like second-rate filler.

As it stands,'What Time Is it?' is their masterpiece.

Pandemonium rules! The title track, Jerk Out, Chocolate, and Skillet belong with Jungle Love and 777-9311 on the all time list. Sure there's some dross there but for the most part it completely kicks ass. It and Chic's "comeback" album CHIC-ISM are the great 99 cent clearance rack funk albums of all time!!

I rank it my second of 3rd favorite depending on what kind of moode I'm in. What Time is it is #1. I like the songs on the debut better live, in fact i really didn't get into some of them until I heard them in concert.

Pandemonium has about 6 great songs. In fact if you cut off the fluff and released that it would rank right behind What Time is it. Bondie and The Skillet are easily two of my favorite Time songs

The thing is,'Pandemonium' could have been a decent album if they got rid of the filler and maybe added some of the stronger 'GB' Time tracks as well as the excellent "Nine Lives".Imagine if the tracklist looked like this...

Pandemonium
Jerkout
Love Machine
Donald Trump (Black Version)
Chocolate
It's Your World
Release It
Nine Lives (from the 'Corporate World' project)
Sometimes I Get Lonely
Shake!

That's a tighter, more focused album with 10 strong tracks and no filler.

I agree that Pandemonium might be two songs too long, but it's still a killer album--much better than Ice Cream Castle. I like The Time's first album, but the songs don't really have enough of the guys' personalities on them. I also can't help but think every time I listen to it that it's a bunch of Prince tracks with Morris' vocals recorded over Prince's. The What Time Is It? LP is tops. Pandemonium ranks second.

Pandemonium is the first real Time album. The other 3 albums (in truth this process was also used on the aborted Corporate World album) were recorded almost completely by Prince and this one had the band actually playing on many of the tracks (with the exception of Chocolate and a few others). This is also the first time that Jimmy and Terry were allowed to expand on their roles and Jesse was allowed to play/create much more than he was in the past. It's funny, on ICE CREAM CASTLES, Jesse had some great stuff on The Bird that got mixed down and removed. That wasn't the case with Pandemonium and that is why it is my favorite album by THE TIME. Because it is truely an album by THE TIME.

Easily, hands down, a classic.
The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I remember reading a newspaper article about it from the Minneapolis Star Tribune when the album came out. I think it was Jimmy that was quoted as saying that the members of the group considered Prince to be a member of the group as well since he contributes so much to every album they've made as well as for Pandemonium. It's still a great album, though.

PANDEMONIUM has a few good songs on it-
namely JERK OUT, PANDEMONIUM & CHOCOLATE-
but like I have said, this album has TOO MANY SONGS on it.

the 1st 3 albums had a certain successful "formula" to them:

- 6 songs total, with 1 or 2 ballads
- a song with "the" in the title : THE STICK, THE WALK, THE BIRD
- 1 "new wave" song- AFTER HI SCHOOL on the 1st album & ONEDAYIMGONNA.. on WHAT TIME IS IT? the closest "new wave" song on ICE CREAM CASTLE would be THE BIRD, I suppose..

PANDEMONIUM broke this formula by having, what, TWENTY songs on the album
& most of them were throwaway afterthoughts.

it was almost as if..
the fellas were just "happy to be together again" in the studio & they figured that they'd ride on the success of their previous VERY GOOD work.

PANDEMONIUM would have been as strong as the 1st 3 albums if the whole album were only

JERK OUT
CHOCOLATE
PANDEMONIM
DONALD TRUMP (though this ballad is "weak" when compared to GIGALOS or GIRL..)
BLONDIE
SUMMERTIME THANG or DATA BANK or RELEASE IT

ah well.
as always, hindsight is 20/20.
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

...yount, yount! Pandemonium is pretty good. nod Nothing will ever touch their first two, tho.

Too bad the fellas can't get it 2gether and make a real nice NEW album. It's been a long Time coming, ain't it not?

I remembered when I went to San Goodie that night and saw Pandemonium there. I picked up the cassette. $9.99 on sale, then three years after that I saw the cutout cd for $1. Guess what? Still have both, but the photo in which the group is in a lobbie looking up to the camera is bigger in the cassette version. That's very odd, right?
