Merci for the Speed of a Mad Clown in Summer I apologize in advance for wasting your time with this extremely trivial question:
On the carnival organ intro to this song there are voices in the background, one of whom sounds like Prince. Does anyone know what they're saying? On a related topic, this review says that Sheila did most of the writing and producing herself on Romance 1600. I could have sworn I read somewhere that Prince did the lion's share of the writing and producing. Does anyone know which is true? Now back to your regularly scheduled lovernation/hateration debate. You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

I don't know about the voices....
but at that the time.... the press and PR was that Prince only wrote Love Bizarre. According to Per Nilson's book DMSR.... "all tracks composed by Prince/Sheila E except 'Merci .....' (Sheila E). The latter track has no Prince involvement (performed by Sheila E and unnamed musicians)". But on the government copyright database...it says "words and music by Sheila Escovedo, whose pseud. is Sheila E." I tend to think Per is correct.... but it's cool that Sheila co-wrote most of it. Per says that Prince wrote all the tracks on "Glamorous Life" except Noon Rendezvous, co-written by Sheila. Then again.... Koo Koo is listed as only Sheila on the copyright thing, but there the'res a hint of Prince cuz it's published by Girlsongs and Sisterfate music. Girlsongs is Prince's publishing company for femal protoge acts... while Sister Fate is Sheila's publishing company.
