Larry had a good ride with the NPG. He stayed around for a long time. But he's a grown man, and Prince is not obligated to support him or keep him on the payroll. Larry should get a band together and get out on the road, play some gigs and earn a living like other musicians.

I miss him for his bass...don't miss him for preachin' cuz I already been there done that, but if he touches somebody, fine. He clearly touched Prince from way back. And lookin' at the Sly cuts...if anything, Prince should do more Sly covers w/Larry. I'm DYING to hear P do "If You Want Me to Stay" in his Camille voice, yup..."Family Affair" (Larry on lead vocal after the chorus...yeah).

What bothers me most is that people are hating on Larry as if he somehow took control of Prince. Prince is playing with one of his heroes! If Sly was acting sorta right (as George Clinton did for a hot minute), they'd all be playing together.

At the opening night of the Musicology tour they were showing the Rave 2000 DVD at a vending station. And sorry, but when Larry breaks down that bass...he is one of the masters. Yall need to listen to Sly and pay close attention to that fonky bass. But as soon as he started preaching I left the stand. Hey, Santana went through that stage too.

I could not agree more - those of us who know MUSIC and FUNK know how important Larry is to the bass. However, I dont ever recall Larry preaching during a concert. He didnt preach on the Rave DVD either. Can someone cite when and where he actually preached?
