ALOT OF U do not like ol' TC. At the time, his album was alright (I bought it with my other 'first rap album' Mc hammer when about 6 or 7 years old) and now it may sound dated, but actually some of the tracks are still worth a listen!

"True confessions" (the song, not album) is a sort of extended version of the rap TC did on "NPG part 2" and is the best cut off album! With heavy duty base drums and distortion samples, this is a harsh treble fans dream!

"Cold Thang" is also cool, with a killer chorus ("What the hell happened"!) and "Girl o' my dreams" is also cool and funny (yes I have heard Princes version and I like both!)

"Miss thang", still funks alright and "Pussycat" is also still cool!

Album way reminds me of inner city b-ball games that me and my firends used to watch, and all those early hood movies too! (like B-ball movie "Heaven is a playgorund")

Unfortunately, this kind of rap dated very quickly (thanx to production and Dr Dre and Snoop dog), and I love Snoops early records, so no hard feelings.

The difference between Prince's Bambi and T.C. Eliis' cover is that Prince genuinely doesn't understand why she can't understand that it's better with a man, whereas T.C. Ellis is condemning her for not understanding that it's better with a man. It certainly makes T.C. Ellis come off as a homophobe. So thumbs down to him.

Believe me, I wanted to like it, mostly because it came out of the Prince camp, but also partly because I hated to think that I pissed $12 (or whatever it was) out the window. Check the liner notes. Reading is fundamental.

Since when do liner notes on a Prince project accurately reflect who did what, especially back in the day? At the very least, he also wrote "Girl O' My Dreams" and depending on what you read, composed and produced several others. Not that I need written confirmation - its easy to hear Prince all over that record. Listening is fundamental.

Like I said before, my opinion...

In the 80s,I used to buy every Paisley Park release including crap like Good Question and Dale Bozzio.By the early 90s,I had learned my lesson so I never bought the TC Ellis CD.I saw it in a record store,picked it up and put it right back down...lol...I figured it was garbage.Around this time,it became increasingly clear that many of Prince's "proteges" weren't really artists at all.These were just normal people who somehow became friends of his,and he rewarded them with record deals.In TC's case,he is the brother of another protege,Sue Ann Carwell,so it's not hard to see how he made his way into the Prince camp.

I really like "Miss Thang"...other than that, the album is not worth much.

It's a shame because I believe that TC had potential. His delivery of the rap he did at the end of NPG part2 was tight...but then for whatever reason, none of that was evident in his album! He "spoke" much of the rap on the album, which was horrible.

What a shame...
