Just google it up: any result for "Kim Upsher" links either to Purple Rain, acting, or Minneapolis. So it's quite certain it's all the same person.

Kim Upsher did play a role in Purple Rain. She was not an ex girlfriend of Prince's she went to High School with him.

yes she did date him and was one of his first girlfriends - she use to do the accounting for the building i live in. she is the one behind the song "BAMBI" and from my understanding "little red corvette" i guess he bought her a corvette once.

they didn't last tho. this was like in the begining of his career-way early on. and yes that is her in purple rain as the waitress. small planet this is i tell ya.

she is involved with alot of community things here in Minneapolis. Very smart women.

I always heard that Kim was the waitress, not the girl getting dumped in the garbage. If I 'm not mistaking I think they call her name real quick in the movie. You see her several times throughout. The girl in the garbage is "Gorgeous Babe"... that's her name in the movie, I guess 'cause you only see her once so she didn't need a name.
