Mica Paris

I realise all she's done is cover a song, but her version of If I Love U 2nite is so good I'm still listening to it regularly. The production is so much classier and more cruisy than the Prince/Mayte version, shame the rest of the album (that unfortunately came with it) is so bad I can't listen to it at all sad
Who else loves it?

I like Mica's version A LOT-she has a really great voice. When she did the cover of 'If you want me to stay' I thought she was going to make some kind of a come back, but she seems to have faded away again, maybe because she is a very obnoxious person..!!

Yes, that was the first "official" release of the Song and it's still a beautiful one. The Mayte-Version is incredible lame and boring, though. Anyway, the best one remains the "original" sung by Gayle Chapman, which really moves me everytime I listen to it. touched

I seriously DO hope u mean by the statement:
'I realise all she's done is cover a song' is strictly aimed at covering a Prince tune, and not the be-all and end-all of her career.

Because trust me, that song far, far, FAR from bookended it - she made a classic album before Prince ever even entered her world.

Yes nana, I did. As opposed to her being a protege type/associated artist. I haven't heard any other albums by Mica apart form the aforementioned and cannot comment.

Working with Prince is usually the kiss of death for your career. I love her version of If I Luv U 2Nite...Initial pressings of the 12" also had Prince's demo version on it...by accident of course.
