I was watching this clip with really poor sound the other day of Princes' 88 Aftershow in LA, and as the show ended and the screen went all snowy Aresnio Hall popped up and introduced Sheila E. This was the show where she performed "Dropping Like Fly's" and "Sex Cymbal." Sheila comes out in a mans suit, strippes down to a shirt and hot pants and then begins playing timbales which are strapped to the backs of scantly clad musclebound men. This was an EXCELLENT performance. Too good for just the Arsenio Hall show if you ask me. But does anyone remember Paula Abdul coming on the Grammys or The American Music Awards that same year and doing that same act to "Vibeology"? That was such a rip off! How come no one ever called her out on that?

i always thought that Ricky Martin's whole La Vida Loca Grammy performance was ripped from Paula's Vibeology.....They both had way to many people on stilts on stage...

yet people creamed all over rickys.....i thought it sucked just as much as paulas..

Yeah and Paula was a little heavy at the time I think becuase she looked really thick and it ended up being a joke. Kurt Loder, on one of those flashback shows. said it was one of the worst performances ever on the MTV awards and said it looked like she was wearing "Pajamas with Attitude".

sadly to say, paula did it first and she is still around - American Idol shows.
she did it on the Arsenio Hall show first and she did it in her performances first. she even wore the outfits first as well, her album and music videos did come out before sheila e' s did " sex cymbol".
