The ads for the shows state that he's performing the hits "for the last time".
It would be funny if it weren't so...well, okay, it is funny.
It would be sad to think that this is just a gimmick to sell tickets...
but what else could it be,really?

There's a sticky at the club in the concert forum that says there will be NPGMC priviledges/sales etc which are still being worked out.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

So, the tour is officially called "Musicology Tour: School's In"

Could his recent performances be a try-out for the tour? If so, I really find it strange that P somewhat plays the same set every second time. Like the two dates in Hawai... on the first evening he played lots of covers, new songs (like Musicology) and jazzy instrumentals, on the second night he playes mostly hits: PR, Shhh, Days of Wild, Let's Go Crazy, etc and some new songs (like Life O the Party). The same goes for the two shows in SF!...

Maybe, he is also practising for the after shows. But even better, maybe the Musicology Tour will consist of two parts (like the LoveSexy Tour), a first part with mainly hits etc, a second with new material, covers and jams.

What do you all think? blunt

BTW: Maceo Parker will be touring Europe from 06.03.2004 to 07.04.2004.

So he will neither attend the RNR HOF induction in NY nor the opening gigs of the tour... confused

I think Prince is turning into some kind of Rolling Stones vehicle - touring the world each other year, always claiming "the last tour... the last time he plays the hits..."

Actually, does anybody really care? There are so many people out there who don't follow his career anymore and don't know that he still makes records (ambitious records...) that they actually might wonder what the fuss of playing/not playing the hits is all about. They probably think that he just ceased making records...

But hey, what else to put in the adverts in the absence of a new hit album...

But: I ain't bitching, I am sooooo glad he is touring. Hope he comes to Europe...

So long

RE: playing hits the last time, supposedly a fan asked him at a meet & greet in oz last year about this and prince said no its not the last time, why would he do that when he loves his songs? its just promoter hype, same goes with meet & greet which prince donated his money to charity (although i dont know what charity so on so forth or if its the JW church etc)

"The show is in the round, giving everyone in the audience a view of the spectacular event."

It's more like no one will have a great view and everyone will have a decent view...and if you are in the front row, you end up looking at Prince's back half of the time. This will be the first US Prince tour that I won't attend since the 1999 tour.....the same hits played again and the "in the round" crap...no thanks.

I read on another thread that you get Prince's new CD when you go to the show. I hope this isn't going to be the only way to get it. I doubt it will be though. He couldn't stand to keep Crystal Ball out of the retail stores, so he'll probably do the same with the new album. Plus it wouldn't be fair to fans who couldn't make it to a live show.

Of course he'd be going to SC when I'm not even in the damn country! I'm studying in Wales right now...have not yet seen Prince live, and was looking forward very much to this tour. I'm not coming back to the States until the end of May. My life has the worst timing ever.
