I saw it once or twice on TV... and now I have it on tape and even as a quicktime video. It's basicaly a combination "performance video" with footage of Sheila walking through a castle garden. Actually the performance portion takes place outside in the garden. It's trying to be very Amadeus-ish...hence the costumes. The band is outside (love how videos have outdoor concerts with no cables/speakers etc!) wearing the costumes from the Romance 1600 cover. They are playing and doing their choreogprahy while they play. Interspersed, you see Sheila in a different outfit...kinda like a white and black lace one piece bathing suit with a cape and that giant white/black hat she wore to the AMA's in 1985 or '86. She's walking around, and she uses her drumstick like a magic wand... touching people with it and sparkles happen. It's like she's touching them and they fall in love or something like that. Every now and then the screen flashes to a newspaper with a headline that relates to the lyrics (Sheila has a new mystery lover etc.). For one split second at the end, it says who is her lover, and you see a picture of Prince taken from the Raspberry Beret video. Overall it's cute but nothing near the Glamorous Life or a true live performance.

First, I have all of these on video. Sister Fate was directed by Prince. They also shot the back cover to Romance 1600 at the Greystone Mansion. It's a public park here in Los Angeles but alot of people don't know about it because it's in the hills of Beverly Hills. I actually discovered it by accident. I used to go there to read and relax. So I decided to walk the grounds one day and had a feeling of deja-vu. I then realized that it was the "Sister Fate" house. As a photographer it is a great location. But I'll never shoot there because insurance is a million dollars to use the grounds...

you know, that video would've been a lot better had it just been a performance one.
That stuff with her walking around in a bathing suit making people fall in love with her drumm stick (she even did it with susie and benny) was just cheesy as hell ~KiKi

The Glamorous Life videos...the one with the extra footage is actually the first version. Then when the song became a hit the video was re-edited and made a little more glam (for the 80's). I believe Prince directed this. Back in the day he used to direct all of those bad videos...

Peace, Serveitupfrankie* I have that video on several videotapes... but never studies them closely enough to see if there are 2 versions. How do you know which version is which? is there a tell-tale sign?

How do you know which version is which? is there a tell-tale sign? i didnt "study hard" to look. I just noticed that certain parts were longer than what i saw before. More scenes of them on thestreet. Like...when he pulls back Sheila's hair, it stops as soon as the light shows, on the original, it shows that but it keeps on going till her head lifts back up...also shows her singing on the stairs. I got the video from the hub just last year, never seen it before!
I'm a huge Sheila fan (esp. Romance 1600), so it was fantastic to see it, but it was quite bad quality (from MTV). Anyone know of a better quality version circulating? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
