That's so funny you just posted this. I was just watching a clip of Sheila doing "Holly Rock" on Saturday Night Live... probably one of the best peformances of the song ever!

1. Anyway, as someone already posted, she's saying "H-O-H-E-N...Hooohhhns"..meaning "horns". Or actually, that Prince-signature synth horns to be specific,. It's like when Morris Day or Prince shout out "Gimme some horns" and they dont' pronounce the "R"... it's usually the keys doing their synth-horn thang.

2. I've been trying to re-create that on my own keyboard...and if any keyboardists are reading this and have suggestions on how to creat that let me know. I basically use a lot of mod wheel to get that effect, but don't have a good sound patch that sounds like that oberheim synth.

3. In the SNL performance, when the song is over, she says "Gimme one... Gimme 2 " etc. and then screams out something I cant' understand. It sounds like "Knee's drawers" or something. Kinda like The Time's "My Drawers"...but I cant' really make it out.
Anyone know what she's saying and if it means anything other than being funky?

4. According to the Library of Congress, Prince and Sheila both wrote Love Bizarre, but Sheila is credited as the SOLE WRITER of Holly ROck!!!
