Looking for Nicole Ritchie pics (the Simple Life) on the web, I ran into a site claiming that Nicole was adopted by Lionel and his wife. Nicole's actual biological father is the brother of Sheila Escovedo. Not that is any of my business, but since we all make celebritys our business anyway, has anyone else seen this and anyone think this is true? I guess its possible. Either way I think Nicole has her head on straighter than Paris!

Someone asked me this question a few weeks ago. I'd never heard it before.

Which makes sense since Sheila used to tour with Richie

I heard that she was adopted but I don't know about her being related to Sheila. That sounds a little strange to me.

I've heard that within the in-the-know music/industry circles in LA, Nicole being Sheila's neice is a well-known "secret". Apparantly this rumor has been around for a long time, at least in certain circles.

Who really knows for sure though

What I read on another web site is Lionel and Brenda took Nicole in because Sheila's sister had a drug problem. The story goes that once her sister recovered the Ricthie's just refused to return the child. I don't know if this is true as it sounds crazy.

I don't know if her father is Peter Michael or if she is Sheila's sister's child but she does look like an Escovedo.
The whole story is buckwild and sure to come out if Nicole gets the recording contract she is seeking.

The Escovedo's would never give a relative up. That family is so huge they're plenty people to take of one (said) niece. Second, Zina is Sheila's sister and she has no children. Peter Michael has a group of kids, so no, he wouldn't give her up either. That family is really tight. It just wouldn't happen.

i think she or her dad said that she was born to a person in the band and they let him adopt her.
so from what i remember it didnt say male or female..
check it out again to be sure.

Both of her parents worked for Lionel. Her father was either a roadie or tour manager and her mother was a make-up artist or something. I forgot. She talked about it in one of the December issues of People. I was looking at it while going through the checkout line
