What's missing from Dez's book? Not much talk about how Prince wrote songs or how prolific he was, and not much info on how he worked in the studio. Kinda general with a lot of comments. It was a good read, but sheesh, can we get more info on when certain songs appeared and how they were inspired? Dez must've been privy to at least a little of that info. He mentioned "When You Were Mine" was inspired by New Wave, and he sets the record straight on who did what on certain songs, and who actually wrote what on certain songs. Just wish we had more info. Also, he barely even mentions how Vanity appeared on the scene. Would've liked more info on other band members as well: Andre, Lisa, Jill, etc. Oh well, I'm a sucka for a major chord. Blame it on Vanity.

I suppose as some point it would go from DEZ'S personal experieince during that era to yet another analysis and documentary of Prince and his work. We all know how prolific Prince is and there are far too books documenting this already. This is what makes Dez's book so refreshing.
