My Mom Met Sheila E. at the grocery store .... I haven't been home for the past for weeks, but when I finally did come back for the holidays my mom told me she saw Sheila E at the grocery store here in Detroit with her family. I was acting all excited and I was like what did you say to her ? My mom was like she didn't know who she was at first, all she knew was the lady looked familar and finally one of the people in the store told my mom it was Sheila E. I guess they where having something in Detroit, I didn't know anything about, Sheila E had to get something at the store. My mom said she was with her daughter and her husband. I'm looking all shocked, I know sheila e was married, but I didn't know she had any kids. I told my mom she should've asked for her autograph, I'm so pissed I wasn't with her when she asked me to go the store with her and I said no ... damn, damn , damn (ester roll impression).

This sounds very, very sketchy to me and contradicts everything else I've ever read or heard.
First, it's not really clear that was Sheila E. The actual witness doesn't even know who she is. Many people confuse her with other performers (not the least of which is Sheana Easton) so it's hard to go by randdom "grocery store" workers. If the mother in questino actually knew who she was looking for....maybe. Second, even if it was she, who is to say that the "husband and daughter" were not brother and niece, friend and child etc. Sorry but this doesn't sound like a very reliable source. Well you have to ask my mom about the details, she was there, not me my mom usually doesn't lie about things like this, so that's why I believed her... well actually sheila e. was downtown pontiac which is only like 30 minuts away from Detroit and that's were my mom saw her..... sorry, but that story just don't add up, I belive at the family jamm she made a comment along the lines of her wanting to be married before she was 80, implying she wasn't.

DigialLisa: I wasn't trying to say you or your mom are lying. Sorry if that came across that way.
I just think the story has too many "if's" or questions to be reliable. And yes, Sheila did comment at the Family Jamm about trying to find a husband...atlhough she was kinda joking around... married people usually dont' say that.

Being a grocery store worker has nothing to do with it. You think Sheila doesn't have "random grocery store worker" fans? Maybe she's too good to have a "random grocery store worker" for a fan. Hell, what "random grocery store worker" is going to buy Sheila's music? We all know "random grocery store workers" know nothing about Sheila E, right?

did your mom ask if that was her daughter, etc?
I have younger cousins that look like my daughter and when I have all the kids with me, people think I have 3 daughters when I just have one. I wonder if your mom was making some assumptions.

Sheila fans (old school) know the deal. When something isn't right, it just isn't...

I wasn't trying to slight grocery workers. I just meant that this whole story is basically "hearsay" or "3rd hand" to say the least. The person who is reporting it heard it from someone else (her mother), and that person, the mother, admits that she herself does not know who Sheila is. So she, the mother, (i.e. the 3rd person) was relying on random people at the location to identify her. This is not exactly a first hand account! (more like 4th hand!) Many people, if not most of the general public, (regardless of their profession!) who are not specifically Prince/related artist fans often confuse Sheila E and Sheena Easton or Sheila and Vanity, Apollonia etc. All I was saying is this does not sound very reliable for reasons that have nothing to do with the character, intelligence, or any other trait of the people invovled. Is that clear enough now? Good God! Unnh!

It's a possibility it could've been Sheila E...I mean why in the world couldn't it not be?!!! Nothing in the world is impossible (especially when it comes to someone buying something in a grocery store!!!) Come on now!!! [This message was edited Sat Dec 27 20:26:59 PST 2003 by Starmist7]

Listen last time I saw Sheila E on television, she said she was engaged and had a big ol' diamond ring on her finger, I was wondering who in the world she was engaged too. So when My Mom said she saw he at the grocery store with her family, then that was proof...

umm..what show was that? Like I said before, she said as the family jamm that she wanted to be married before she 80 and asked carmen if her husband had a brother...that doesn't sound like a married person would say... ~KiKi

Calm down, people!
Sheila stepped out with our child to go get me a six-pack. Big fuckin' deal. She was just out doin' what any wife should do for her man. Am I right, fellas? But her ass is gonna be in big trouble the next time she doesn't bring me back all my change! Ain't no way a six-pack of Schlitz cost $10!

Listen, I am not trying to argue... and please take all my comments as just neutral non-judgmental statements cuz that's how they are intended. That said... I have 2 pictures from the Family Jamm with closeups of her hands and neither hand has an engagement ring. If she is married, I'm happy for her! I hope everyone finds his/her soulmate. From what I understand, Sheila prefers to keep her private life private, so I'm going to respect that and stop commenting now.

I remember hearing that,in the early 90s,Sheila got married to some "sports guy".If that's true, then it's not unlikely that she has a kid by now.
Sheila is more secretive about her private life than Prince ever was...lol...
