How many of the acts on Paisley Park do you think would have hit the big time if they hadn't been on a such a shitty label?

Imagine, Paisley Park didn't exist, or, if it, it was considered more than Prince's private playground, and had some real backing/money behind it.

Which acts on the roster would have performed better.

For starters, I can see Sheila E's 3rd album ripping up the charts.

Hold Me, Faded Photographs (despite being Pat Benetar rip-off), and Wednesday Like A River could have been big hits.

Jill Jones - Mia Bocca - She could have been a one-hit wonder rather than a non-hit wonder.

My Man should have been a hit, it's a pop masterpiece!

Sheila's "Hold Me" was a moderate chart hit, wasn't it?

I think it's a shame Jill's album didn't get more recognition. I like it more than I like a lot of Prince's albums.

I think Hold Me hit #1 on the R&B singles chart (??) but that means nothing outside several demographics in the USA.

I know Mia Bocca was nominated for a VMA, that was something! smile

I think maybe Love Is Contagious was the biggest song to come out of the label, and Carmen Electra the biggest 'star'.

I guess that isn't saying much wink

I agree,Sheila's third album is excellent and should have been a huge success. With proper promotion and the right singles,it should have been as popular as Janet's 'Control'.Not releasing "Faded Photographs" as a single was a big mistake.

Mazarati's debut album was excellent too,and perhaps it would have done better on another label. But other than that, there weren't too many Paisley Park releases that would have done well anywhere.

Uhhh,,, can anyone say "The Family"? smile

That entire album is AMAZING!!!

And Madhouse 8 should've gotten some Smooth Jazz play.

I've seen both of those go for $100 on ebay for the CD.

Just picked this up recently (it was cheap). This album is really very funky. Old school Clinton with great collaborators on the tracks. The Prince penned song is probably my least favorite on the disc, which surprised me.
