What became of the webmaster of Prince Family...

I dont even think thats the name of site...It used to be the hang out before the org...And then Prince got all hectic and started suing people...She ended up closing shop and the world was forever changed...

Who was she? Anyone still keep in touch with her? Is she an orger? Is he still a Prince fan?
Space for sale...

Damn, there was a thread about this a while back, with lots and lots of dirt. All I remember was that the lady who ran the site was a very dedicated fan who had even personally assisted Prince in the past...I forget in what capacity...I remember when she shut down the site, her "goodbye" message was very eloquent in its disappointment.

Anyone have a copy of the message??

I used to get her newsletter, and I called the hotline at least once a week at one point.

Her name is Diana Dawkins. She was in charge of the Prince Family newsletter and news hotline. She was obviously close to the Prince organization and/or Warners. In the summer of 1996,she sent promo cassettes of the "Dinner With Delores" single to all of her subscribers. In 1999,when Prince sued Uptown and other fansites, she shut down her operation.Prince didn't sue her,but I guess she didn't wanna take any chances. She sold all of her Prince memorabilia and hasn't been heard from since (in the Prince community, that is).Another former Prince associate,Linda Everett, had problems with him and in the mid-90s,she eventually sold much of her Prince stuff too.

It's such a shame, because I really enjoyed getting the newsletter every two weeks. And I spent a small fortune calling the hotline...lol

I have all of her old mailer newsletters somewhere..

Diana lived a town over from me.. and she worked for many years even during the Controversy Fanzine days. The way she kept her finger on the pulse of the entire R&B, Soul & Funk release schedule was brilliant.

Despite Prince's desire to shrink his fan base in his dim-witted attempt of attacking his distribution partner that he signed to work with. This was by far the most mind boggling and brainless stunt an entertainer could do. Threaten the formations of the music community that followed him.
