I've been listening to W&L's albums lately and going through the liner notes... esp "Fruit At the Bottom" which has photos.

I was trying to figure out who all the people in their circle are.

Wendy and Lisa.

Susannah, Wendy's identical twin sister (and is it me but she looks identical but yet softer)

Jonathan their brother (although he tragically died).

David Coleman Lisa's brother who worked on Around The World In A day.

Cole - is she really Lisa's sister... is her name really Cole Coleman?

Carla - is she a Melvoin or Coleman??? She plays drums. Is she in one of he photos on the Fruit at The Bottom booklet? there is one other person other than W, L, Susannah, and cole. She kinda looks like a Melvoin.. I think she's all the way on the left.

yep. she's lisa's sister. As far as her name goes, I've always assumed "cole" was a shortened version of another name (most likely nicole), since that name does seem quite strange: Cole
Coleman.
Anyway, yeah, she's lisa's sister


that's carla azar, she played drums on their first three albums. she's the one on the left.
She's friends with them but no relation to either one

i think Lisa's sister is called Cole Ynda Coleman.

can you name the black guitarplayer and the bassplayer with the glasses from their band in those days ?

Tony Berg- Executive produced Eroica...Went on to become a A/R man at Virgin and is now working with Aimee Mann and Michael Penn on their "hot" indie label...For the life of me I cant figure out why wendy and lisa arent working that angle...unless Susannah dated Tony and broke up with him and ruined that friendship...(does anyone see a pattern here?)


Chris Bruce- The guy rocks. He has been with the girls since the beggining.. (which leads me to think he is gay and had no interest in sus... j/k.heehehehe). Now he is working with Doyle Bramhall and his band that includes Sus...Chris has worked a lot with Seal (who left the girlbros fold after dating..yes, say it with my boys and girls: Susannah )

Tchad Blake- He got the hook up via Michael Penn...(damn I wish penn and the girls did another song together..Mother of Pearl ROCKED!!)...Blake is the one who has (introduced the girls) and got them to play on some of the masterpieces of recent years...notably Neil Finn's "One All". Luckily, Sus was in love with Doyle and never had a chance to ruin *that* friendship...

You are OHHH so right! Actually, when their site got online last week, I was silly enough to write them an email (ok, I know, the girls never will read this mail themselves... ) asking why not teaming up again with Michael Penn.

"Mother Of Pearl" simply is one of my favourite tunes of all times & all artists - if not THE tune.

You know, I was into Michael's and Aimee's music right from their first solo albums, as I was into W & L's music of course. And then I found out about the connections and the fact that Aimee & Michael were married.

Really funny to find loose ends forming a perfect circle after all.

If there's one thing in the musical world I dream of... it's an album plus a tour of these four performing as a band: Aimee, Michael, Wendy & Lisa. Aimee as well as Wendy plays bass - so there's only the drummer missing. Producer? Tchad Blake, I'd say.
