Sheila E in Purple Rain I often wonder why she was not in the film. I think she was working with Prince when the film was being made. She would have been perfect as the girl that Jerome threw in the dumpster. Or maybe they could have written in a side peice of ass for the Kid for when he was on the outs with Appolonia - it would have been great PR for the rumor that was going around at the time that said she was getting down with Prince. | |

I remember reading that she "worked on the film with him" meaning the scoring. There's a lot of anicillary percussion in the film score which isn't on the album which I assume is Sheila.
I wouln't want to see her in a trashy role though. She's always been very classy and tasteful (with the possible exception of the stage routine for "Wipe the LIpstick off your collar" during the PR tour!  .

Sheila started hanging around with Prince in late 83 and was in the studio with him in January 84 on. Most of the footage for the film was already shot, so there wasn't any chance of her being in the movie. Regarding her involement in the music, she was around during the making of Erotic City (duh!), When Doves Cry and work on the Time album and Apollonia album, as well as her stuff which she recorded the vocals for in April of 84. Shelia would have been great . Most men would have missed Appolonia's breasts though. In the Japanese promo of Strange Tales from the Rain Glamorous Life was part of the soundtrack. Apples filled in for Vanity pure and simple. Shelia though was more his Type. Appolonia was good though. | |

On the forthcoming 2004 Director's Cut of the DVD there will be an Easter Egg called "The Kid's Home Movies", featuring a twenty minute threesome between him, Apples and Sheila. | |
