I was recently reading a familty thread and someone said that they didn't like how susannah's vocals were pushed into the background; this was interesting to me because I had thought the same thing for quite some time.
She was a Prince girlfriend, he usually always had his girlfriends as the main attraction, and she (at least in my opinion) could actually sing, she's no aretha, or teena, or mariah, but she sounded pretty decent.

So my question is: do you think susannah could sing? and while we're on this subject, do you think paul could?

On my W&L video collection I mentioned earlier,there are concerts from The Fruit At The Bottom era,and Susannah be gettin down ,vocally,that is!!

I love the solo song that Susannah sings, "Missunderstood" (an outtake from the Family album),so I would say that,yes,she was a decent singer.Before hooking up with Prince,she was actually a session background vocalist who worked with Quincy Jones.

IMHO she's good as a background singer but only average as lead singer.

You can watch her touring with her husband on Roger Waters In The Flesh DVD. This is one of the best music DVDs around by the way.

I saw her 2 times touring with Wendy & Lisa in 89 and 90. At one concert, I was first row and her belly was about 1 meter away from me. This is something you do not forget too easily as a teenage boy.

Lisa's sister (Carla ???) was pregnant, not Susannah (= Wendy's sister)

I thought this was a great question... I always thought the same thing. I love Susannah and want to hear her. But her vocals do seem mixed very low on the Family and on other stuff.

I have a tape of the one and only Family concert and you can't really hear her even there!!

And on Mountains, where if memory serves, Wendy and Susannah or "on the left" and "Sheila and LIsa" are on the right, I can't identify her voice.

I think she is so beautiful too.
