What do you guys think of Wendy and Lisa as SOLO aritists?

Excluding thier work with Prince, what do you think of their solo work?

A+ for the music but I'm disappointed, almost 8 years between Eroica and the last album + it's been 4 years since the release of Girlbros bored

I also give them an A+++. It's time for a new album however.
I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

They could definitely hold their own, but they'll never downplay their Prince influences.

The first album was o.k.
Their second album was great
Their third album (Eroica) was my favourite album in 1990. I loved it more than the things Prince did that year including the live performances.

Unfortunately it has become too quiet around them and I never really got into the Girl Bros. album although I think it's really good if you invest more time.

Please don't throw and fruit or veggies, but I actually REALLY like their score work.

I love the Native American/Irish feel of Crossing Jordan and Hav Plenty for very much the same reason.

I like the versatility of them doing scores. You get to hear so many different themes that you can't quite cover on ONE album.

I agree with funkystuff completely. Eroica is also my favorite. So much versatiliy on that album.

My personal favorite is a song called "Perfect Stranger", which is also (technically) score related from the TV show SNOOPS. If you have not heard this, you are really missing out. Very hard core rock!

So, I am perfectly content to just sit back and let the score music come in. If you think about it, we are getting at least one new song a year since 1996.

I think they just get better and better.

8 years between Eroica and GirlBros so I guess only another 4 to go before the follow up.

Not sure if I can get the Film scores here in the UK so will just have to keep revisiting their albums for now.

Would be so great if they could just get wendyandlisa.com up and running again. There were some good downloads on there (unfortunately I lost them in a hard-disk crash!!)

Sometimes we should value quality over quantity.

I like there 2nd album the best overall.but I prefer them writing&working with other Acts more than them solo for a whole set.

I bought the first three albums and loved them. I went to see them live years ago here in Chicago and they were great. It was the first time I had heard Lisa sing lead on a song. I thought her voice was beautiful. The house was packed and I will assume some came for the affiliation with Prince but left Wendy and Lisa fans. Wendy said something to the affect of "I have never been so happy to be in a roomful of people". I thought that was so great because I don't hear any artist saying that. We showed them much love. Fruit On The Bottom kicked ass and the crowd was jammin'.

With the "Possessed" book out, I keep getting the feeling that people believe their input into Prince's material in the mid 80s is what made it all so interesting. Fine... this has some merit but the truth is, although I really like some Wendy and Lisa songs from their solo records - they are SOOO SOOO SOOO much less interesting than Prince's stuff.

TOgether they are great and truly a unique combination but alone, W&L are not even the hair on Prince's bum smile

I have their first two albums but I wasn't overwhelmed by them.A few decent tracks but no real *personality* in their music.I guess you could say I'm not really a fan of their solo stuff.

I think it's great. In fact, I'd say it has only improved with time. I've been spinning their 1st album a lot recently and am enjoying it even more than when I first got it back in '87... Such a lush, wonderful sound. I always loved Mountains and Sometimes It Snows in April from Prince's Parade album long before I knew W&L were responsible for the music and listening to their debut it's easy to see where the sound came from.

As well I think "Strung Out" from Eroica, just one example, is easily as good as anything Prince has put out in the last 10-15 years.

Truth be told, I'd have to agree with those who think Prince's output is missing something since they left... On the reverse I can see where many of their musical ideas might have been improved by him, as well. I can't help but wonder what the 3CDs of Emancipation would have sounded like with the 3 of them working together again.

Anyway, my fave album is GirlBros (mainly because I love to hear Lisa sing) with Eroica falling 2nd.

I really am into their music. The first album for me really hits the spot. A few things on there kinda irk me like "sideshow" and "waterfalls" but songs like "song about" and "chance to grow" make up for it in a huge way.

I adore their first album, and there are a lot of moments I enjoy in "Fruit On The Bottom"...never really "got" "Eroica" or "Girl Bros.", though I recently heard the project they were working on with Trevor Horn, and it's gorgeous...a shame it never got released, even if a few tracks were re-tooled for "Girl Bros".

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.
