"The Kid" being Prince's character aside, it can also just be a more generic self-reference of whoever's singing it. When a lot of folks use "The Kid" they often mean it as a reference to themselves. This song was probably supposed to be sung and released by Prince on Purple Rain or or as a B-Side, but obviously that didn't happen. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |
