I love Vanity but I have to agree with Bill's coment about her vocals. Her vocals on this album are atrocious and her songwriting is pretty bad confused the best thing about this album is "Mechanical Emotion" and that's mainly because of the hot groove and Morris Day's vocal contribtion.

Had actually forgotten about this album. lol
Is this the one with Under The Influence on it too?
Believe this album was before the songs she did on Action Jackson.
The songs she had on Action Jackson were better imo.

No,this is her first solo album, released in 1984.

"Under The Influence" is from her second album,Skin On Skin, released in 1986.

Universal just isnt interested in reissuing her music. Look at how many decades it took them to release Skin On Skin digitally, despite her having a significant hit R&B single from that album. If Im not mistaken, Under the Influence was a top ten song on Billboard Black Singles chart. Bit up until last year the best they could muster was to include it on some dance diva CD compilation in the 90s. While Pretty Mess appeared on a gay music dance compilation around that same time.
