Michael Bland Calls Out Questlove For Throwing Shade To The NPG

https://fb.watch/vfOzWX-sZO/

Michael Bland gave an interview on Funkatopia where he breaks down each track from the LOVE SYMBOL album. The interviewer brought up Questlove and Michael Bland takes Questlove to task for not respecting the New Power Generation's musicianship on Prince's recordings and live shows in the 1990s. Even mentioning a private conversation where Questlove with D'angelo praised Bland's drum fill on "I Hate U" past the bar line, but questioning Questlove's observation that he realized the NPG was a good band after watching GLAM SLAM '92. This is a fascinating discussion that lasted for 15 minutes.

I would love to see an actual drum-off.

That should settle it.

Both drummers are so different, and each one of them brought another style.

Quest to me is more innovative than Michael Bland imho.

And Michael Bland is a fantastic poxwerful drummer, quest will never be.

No need to compare them or put them in a battle.

Drummers are artists just lke guitar players, each one is different in style and skills.

There is no 'best' - I never liked that sort of competitive rankings.

Art is not a sport.
