Well, I suppose it's how one defines "substantial."

There are artist royalties for performing on the record. There are also points on an album, which I presume most of us know about already.

She likely got artist royalties. Just a guess, but it would allow her to get a check for every unit sold. Or he could've just cut her a check for work received.
