Wow, what a conclusion! Can't wait to see how the legal action gets resolved so we can get back to the music.

It's crazy the way these ladies were mistreated at Paisley Park....just for taking a damn picture?! Smh

Another interesting tidbit: Jam and Lewis had plans to revive Vanity 6 in the late 80s?! eek

Yeah, forget "What could've been..." had Vanity starred in Purple Rain, can you imagine if VANITY SIXX had performed Nasty?!?!

History would have gone completely differently...

the estate should put together some kind of Vanity 6/Apollonia 6 set to celebrate their 40th Anniversary. They could include all outtakes/demos and as a bonus, include a DVD of the Happy Birthday Mr.Christian video album/mini movie.

It's crazy this far down the line almost all of this stuff has never just been issued again for all the proteges. I get it that the label doesn't exist etc... but this is a clear cut case of "who is going to get paid for this" type deal, because they EASILY cut commision a label like Cherry Red or some other one to issue it, put a couple of mixes on there to lengthen the cd since most were really short, and just do a remaster, seems very easy but once again, two many cooks in the kitchen coming to get their money and probably no one knows who did what. I remember Paul Peterson saying a few years ago in an interview where someone said "you played bass on that track" and he said "really, no one even told me it was out with me on it" but also he said that happened ALOT. Also I will add that if they don't do it for the 40th Anniversary of PR when obviously again Prince will be talked about, that will be the last chance to be honest.

I didn’t know that Brenda released a couple of solo albums.I’ll have to check those out.She was absolutely fantastic on the A6 album.Songs like “Blue Limousine” and “Some Kind Of Lover” are the highlights of the album, imo.

Brenda released this on YouTube a couple years ago. She sounds just as good as ever, and the folk style totally works for the song, too.

REMEMBER: Jesse Johnson had also Produced 2 Songs on Vanity (Undress & Far Away Eyes) for the "Action Jackson" Soundtrack! So THAT, Coupled w/Jam & Lewis' Plans would have been a MAJOR Nut Punch 2 P!!

I have a feeling that Prince would have gotten his lawyers involved and try to stop this from happening wink

I would love an Apollonia 6 remastered CD.That album is a gem! Songs like "Blue Limousine","A Million Miles (I Love You)" and "Some Kind Of Lover" are truly underrated and deserve so much more attention. Some of the finest tunes that Prince ever created.

Likewise, they should finally do something special with the Vanity 6 album. The entire second V6 album was recorded in 1983 and it is just collecting dust in the vaults.Get it out there!!

Honestly, I think the problem is no one really cares about the Prince protegee's music anymore. I don't know who owns the rights to those albums, the estate or Warner Brothers. If it's WB they could just go ahead a reissue those titles without much effort. When the FTG and Big Break labels were still around, both told me they requested permission to reissue those titles but WB was silent.

For those of you familiar with an artist named Donnie from the early 00's, Universal reissued a deluxe edition of his "The Colored Section" album. He said he was told about the reissue at the last minute and was not consulted about anything. Universal owns the rights to the album so they can do what they want. These labels don't always need permission from the artists to reissue titles. I have heard some artists say they don't get paid on reissues. So if the rights to Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6 still lay with WB, they are just really apathetic towards reissuing those albums. Truth be told, I would not be surprised if anyone currently at the label have even heard of those albums.
