Will Any of the Prodigies Ever Have a Proper Release?

Or rather, re-release? LOL.

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

I imagine the estate have the rights to the albums of Prince's prodigies (Mayte, Apollonia/Vanity 6, Jill Jones, etc.). So I'm wondering if those albums will ever be available on streaming services. Or will the official YouTube channel ever upload the music videos we didn't get to see. Or will they forever be lost media for us fans?

yeah,I think it's a shame that so much of this music is buried and neglected.I should be able to go to Spotify and listen to the Mazarati album or the Apollonia 6 album. Why aren't these albums more widely available?!

Mazarati and Apollonia 6 are the only two albums I don't have on official cd, so these would be great to have (before the cd completely falls into oblivion). I have cd rips of both of these, so can listen to them in maximum quality, but an official release would be welcome.

Of course, any other protege album would be great to have on cd reissue, given that extended versions, outtakes and/or guide vocal versions are included.

As I've argued before here, it's a pity that some of the protege albums get a vinyl release. Vinyl is nice for the people who are susceptible for hypes. But by no means vinyl is the right physical medium for archival releases, first and foremost since vinyl deteriorates with every playing round. Not to speak of artefacts (clicks, pops) that are present from the start, and the colouring ("warming") of sound, which is actually a form of harmonic distortion that the producer/artist never intended.

If authentic vinyl is still prefered, please buy second hand. This would open the market for truly worthwhile collector releases, i.e. special edition cd boxes.
There is some light at the horizon though... after the vinyl hype fades out (which will inevitable happen when people are starting to realize that the LPs look hip, but have some disadvantages too), the cd is the most obvious candidate for the next nostalgic revival. Some signs of this change of fashion are already in the air.

That sounds about RIGHT!!! I even have Jesse Johnson's 3 A&M CD's, as well as Jill Jones' Paisley Park CD! Both Madhouse Albums were OFFICIAL CD's, but if U find them, they will cost U!! I have Made My Own Mazarati & Apollonia 6 CD's from Vinyl, as well as The Family

My hope is that another label gets can somehow get to do the project of remastering and packaging because I don't see it happening on the WB front. Labels that specialize in these kind of things there a few that do amazing work and have been reissuing stuff from the rock 80's stuff to new wave stuff and soul unrecognized stuff

I will agree on this also citing that physical media is up 22% from last year, CDS are up but its also being highly driven by vinyl which everyone swore was not going to rise this year, because of warehouse issues, price rising, etc...none of that happened mainly because I feel the number is driven by Record Store day, and also people are trying to support small business as best they can, I will also say that Youtube channels for people focusing on collecting new releases and this and that has driven it. Vinyl is not realy being driven by new releases, they arent lining up for adele on vinyl, maybe Taylor to an extent, but the drive is really being carried by veteran acts that release new music, do vinyl collectibles etc...Some may call it taking advantage of your fan base, but hey if you dont want it dont buy it.

yeah,if Warners and the estate don't want to be bothered with these albums,I wish they would allow a reissue label like Cherry Red Records or Big Break Records (if they're still around) to take charge. It's a damn shame that so much of this music is unavailable.

They've been out of print for 30 years and fetch top dollar. That is usually enough to warrant a reissue, digitally at the very least.
