Was Girl-6 a good movie?

I like it a lot, better than some wack Spike films. Spike certainly dealt with the Hollywood racism issue better--for the time. He uses P's music in a decent way. And Teresa Randall is gorgeous. Note how few films she has done. Girl-6 is a nice little jam.

I like the movie, although when I watch it I can just 'feel' that it's not that good. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying it - I'm a sucker for movies about struggling actors & musicians.

PRINCE: the only man who could wear high heels and makeup and STILL steal your woman!

It was a good movie, not a great movie though.

I watched it for the Prince music, but didn't find myself needing to own this on DVD or have multiple viewings.

I loved the soundtrack more than the movie.

Side note: Theresa Randle is amazing and perfect. I wish she would have been in more movies than she has been.

It's okay. I think I agree with Prince when Spike asked him what he thought about the music. Prince said some of it worked, and that some of it didn't. I felt the same.

Sometimes, it felt like a song was there just to be there, rather than add to the scene. And a few scenes couldn't be helped necessarily. The character's mental rabbit hole wasn't always that well fleshed out. It felt like a trippy 60s film where there's a lot of close ups, or weird visual elements to represent a mental state of mind.

At best, I'd give it a C+ or a B-. Not horrible, watchable, but Spike's done better.

My favorite Spike film is and always will be School Daze. The music in that was excellent, and covered so many genres from dancehall to R&B, etc.

It was released on my birthday that year, so I can't hate that.

best thing about it was that it had 3 new tracks on the soundtrack.

This movie features a Prince soundtrack and a cameo appearance by Madonna.What’s not to love? biggrin

Seriously though…it’s really just an OK movie.There are some really good scenes.Not one of Spike’s best films.

Some of the scenes with Prince music are very well done.I especially like the “How Come U Don’t Call Me” scene.”Nasty Girl” works well in this movie,too.
